Hi everyone 👋 Though it's been a long time, I'm excited to share my experience diving into the world of service design, particularly my view on healthcare services. As a newcomer, I found myself introduced to the concept through a post from SDID - Service Design Indonesia, sparking my curiosity and leading me to explore further. What struck me most is the realization that design extends far beyond just visuals and moving pixels. It encompasses a holistic understanding of how services function and interact with users, which is especially critical in sectors like healthcare where the stakes are high and human lives are at the forefront. One unique aspect of my journey was the opportunity to participate in immersive role-playing exercises facilitated by theater experts. Through these sessions, we were challenged to embody various roles – whether as active participants or keen observers – and enact scenes that mirrored the flow, challenges, and potential solutions within a service. Imagine stepping into the shoes of a patient navigating through the intricacies of a healthcare system, or embodying the role of a healthcare provider striving to deliver seamless care amidst complex processes. These exercises not only provided invaluable insights but also fostered empathy and a deeper understanding of the end-users' experiences. By immersing ourselves in these scenarios, we gained a firsthand perspective on which aspects of the service were smooth sailing and where improvements were urgently needed. From identifying bottlenecks in appointment scheduling to uncovering communication gaps between healthcare professionals and patients, every interaction illuminated opportunities for innovation and optimization. But it wasn't all serious business – while learning and discovering, I had the pleasure of connecting with a diverse array of professionals, each bringing their unique expertise and perspectives to the table. What struck me most was their genuine enthusiasm and passion for the field, evident in the lively discussions and collaborative spirit felt throughout the event. Overall, this experience served as a powerful reminder of the transformative potential of service design in shaping more patient-centric, efficient, and empathetic healthcare experiences. I'm truly grateful for the opportunity to learn, grow, and connect with like-minded individuals who share a common goal of driving positive change in service design. #servicedesign #healthcare #productdesign
