Last week, we welcomed leaders from the PUB, Singapore's National Water Agency for a walking tour of the waterfront. Joined by US Army Corps of Engineers and Jacobs, the visit provided a valuable opportunity to share knowledge and explore innovative strategies for strengthening our shorelines against climate change and sea level rise. Another historic day at the Port of San Francisco and in the City and County of San Francisco, as we proudly celebrated the dedication of Dr. Maya Angelou Lane and Toni Stone Crossing. This is the first-ever junction in San Francisco named after two prominent Black women. Acclaimed poet and writer, Dr. Maya Angelou was San Francisco’s first Black female streetcar conductor, and Toni Stone was the first woman to play on a professional baseball team with men. In addition to the street dedication, Mission Rock partners unveiled a bronze statue of Toni Stone at the southeast corner of Toni Stone Crossing and Dr. Maya Angelou Lane, created by acclaimed sculptor dana king. What an inspiring day honoring these distinguished Black women who broke racial, gender, and social barriers! 📸: Arianna Cunha, MPH
