The San Francisco Shoreline Leadership Academy is a 15-week paid program co-hosted by the San Francisco Bay Conservation and Development Commission (BCDC) and Port of SF. Participants will explore the San Francisco waterfront and learn from experts on key topics like sea level rise, flooding, climate change, economic development, and more. There’s nothing like Fleet Week! Proud to join Mayor London Breed, SF Port Director Elaine Forbes, the U.S. Navy, and event organizers aboard the USS Tripoli for the 2024 Fleet Week kickoff! Fleet Week brings our community together, honoring those who serve and enhancing our emergency preparedness. We welcome the Sailors, Marines, and Coast Guard members to San Francisco! Last week, we welcomed leaders from the PUB, Singapore's National Water Agency for a walking tour of the waterfront. Joined by US Army Corps of Engineers and Jacobs, the visit provided a valuable opportunity to share knowledge and explore innovative strategies for strengthening our shorelines against climate change and sea level rise. The Pier 27 Cruise Terminal: 🚢 Welcomes nearly 300,000 passengers per year. 💵 Generates $55 million annually into the local economy. ⚓️ Facilitates nearly 100 annual voyages. 👷♂️ Supports 300+ dedicated longshore and terminal workers. Another historic day at the Port of San Francisco and in the City and County of San Francisco, as we proudly celebrated the dedication of Dr. Maya Angelou Lane and Toni Stone Crossing. This is the first-ever junction in San Francisco named after two prominent Black women. Acclaimed poet and writer, Dr. Maya Angelou was San Francisco’s first Black female streetcar conductor, and Toni Stone was the first woman to play on a professional baseball team with men. In addition to the street dedication, Mission Rock partners unveiled a bronze statue of Toni Stone at the southeast corner of Toni Stone Crossing and Dr. Maya Angelou Lane, created by acclaimed sculptor dana king.
