On World Environment Day, SH Modern is proud to share the work of nationally acclaimed photographer Clyde Butcher. Renowned for his breathtaking images, Butcher dedicates much of his photography to the Everglades. His work captures this unique ecosystem’s natural beauty and serves as a powerful advocacy for its protection. The Everglades, a vital yet endangered treasure, is more at risk now than ever. Butcher’s lens reminds us of the importance of preserving this irreplaceable landscape for future generations. Big Sugar has sued to transform the EAA Reservoir, a crucial Everglades restoration project, into a water supply for the sugar industry. This lawsuit threatens to undermine the reservoir’s purpose of enhancing water flow and quality in southern Florida. If Big Sugar wins, it could reverse years of restoration progress, leading to more toxic coastal discharges, harmful algal blooms, massive fish die-offs, economic losses, job cuts, and the endangerment of a national treasure. We’re urging the United States Sugar Corporation, Okeelanta Corporation (Florida Crystals), and the Sugar Cane Growers Cooperative of Florida to drop their lawsuit against the EAA Reservoir. “Water is life, and clean water means health.” - Audrey Hepburn We need your support to protect this vital project.
