Celebrating the cats of Shannon & Wilson staff today (and every day) on National Cat Day! National Cat Day was founded in 2005 to raise awareness of the importance of adopting companion pets, spaying and neutering feline pets, and donating to and/or volunteering your time at pet shelters and humane societies. Roughly 46.5 million U.S. households own a cat. For the second year in a row, staff from Shannon & Wilson's Seattle office volunteered with Sound Foundations NW, an organization committed to solving the homelessness crisis in the Puget Sound region and beyond through constructing tiny houses and building community. Within their Hope Factory in South Seattle, Sound Foundations NW turns out four tiny houses per week. Each tiny house provides transitional housing, hope, and opportunity for three people/families per year on their journey to permanent housing and a more stable future. Over three days, 30 Shannon & Wilson volunteers built three tiny houses, which will help change the lives of 180 people/families experiencing homelessness. Shannon & Wilson and its employees also contributed more than enough funds to cover the cost of one tiny house. Together we can make a difference.
