A recent Smartcar survey of 1,000 US and European drivers shows that a considerable percentage of drivers want more value from the services regarding cost, available features, and data security before adoption (h/t to Autoblog for the story). The survey showed that 67% of subscribers would pay more for a subscription offering additional features, and 61% want more capabilities in their current subscription. They ranked their most valuable use cases for vehicle connectivity from highest to lowest as finance and insurance, repair and maintenance, residential EV charging, public EV charging, and shared mobility. At NVIDIA's GTC Conference today, General Motors announced they will use “Nvidia Drive AGX” for “in-vehicle hardware for future advanced driver-assistance systems and in-cabin...driving experiences.” The chipmaker has been looking at the automotive sector in earnest. “The era of physical AI is here, and together with GM, we’re transforming transportation,” Jensen Huang, Nvidia founder and CEO, said in a release. “We are thrilled to partner with GM to build AI systems tailored to their vision, craft and know-how.” It's all part of a new world of the next-generation in-cabin experience, from v-commerce to agentic AI.
