Momentum is building for a #CTChildTaxCredit! Last week, our legislative champions Rep. Kate Farrar and Rep. Antonio Felipe held a press conference to introduce H.B. 5986: AN ACT ESTABLISHING A REFUNDABLE CHILD TAX CREDIT AGAINST THE PERSONAL INCOME TAX. This critical bill is already gaining strong momentum, with more than 60 co-sponsors signed on in support! She Leads Justice, alongside many of our organizational partners, proudly stood in solidarity at the announcement—because we know a refundable Child Tax Credit would make a real difference for Connecticut families. This is an important step forward, but we need to keep up the pressure to make sure it becomes law.

Tomorrow, Governor Lamont will deliver his budget address to the Connecticut General Assembly, outlining the state’s priorities for the year ahead. Right now, we have a critical opportunity to ensure that Connecticut’s children and families are at the top of that agenda. A permanent #CTChildTaxCredit would put money back in the pockets of working families, helping parents afford essentials like food, child care, and housing. But without a strong show of public support, this proven tool for reducing child poverty and strengthening our economy could be left out of the budget. That’s why we need you to take action today.
