Since 1994, Shepherd’s Foundation has raised funds to support the programs and services offered at each Shepherd of the Valley community. The Foundation ensures that residents receive the care and service they deserve. Each of our residents brings with them a lifetime of memories and dreams. Shepherd’s Foundation is dedicated to honoring those memories and dreams by making some of our resident’s most cherished wishes come true. Whether they want to visit their hometown, sit in the front row of a Broadway show or gather family and friends for an ice cream social, no dream is too big or too small! To fulfill these dreams, we depend on financial support from individuals and corporations. Every donation goes toward providing a meaningful and well-deserved lifestyle for those we serve. We seek to increase participation in our Shepherd’s Circle (annual giving) and Shepherd’s Legacy Society (planned giving) programs with the goal of supporting several ongoing programs, such as: -Benevolent Grants for residents who need financial assistance with daily living expenses -Activity Department Grants for special resident programs -Professional Development Grants to assist employees who are continuing their education -Staff Appreciation Fund to recognize the exceptional efforts of our employees

On Friday, we held a special Blessing of the Pets event at the Mosquito Lake Dog Park! Even more special was that, with the help of Shepherd's Foundation, we were able to fulfill a Second Wind Dream for Anne Prybys, affectionately known as "St. Anne"! Anne is a Skilled Nursing resident at Shepherd of the Valley Howland and used her Second Wind Dream to enjoy two of her favorite things, furry friends and nature! Anne made special treats for each animal and helped Pastor Christine Orr bless the pets!

Last week, we held a dedication for the new and improved Legacy Garden at Shepherd of the Valley Howland! Led by Jeanne Zingale and the Garden Club, with the help of generous grants from Thrivent and Shepherd's Foundation, this project is for current and future members of our community to enjoy. Zingale said, "This dedication serves to recognize the contributions of those who have gone before us and those who are currently active in our endeavors; to recognize their gifts of benches, garden beds, and shared expertise. We are looking forward to trying new things, finding solutions for current needs, and having fun working together on a project that brings so many good things to our community. Part of our legacy to future Garden Club members and our Shepherd community is the comradery that develops among group members as we make new friends, pull together for a common purpose, celebrate members’ achievements, and offer sympathy when needed most."
