We had an incredible time for our #SFTechWeek event. Thank you Derrick Lim for capturing the incredible afternoon.
Last week, I had the privilege of capturing photos and videos for Shimmer's incredible event at #SFTechWeek. The event was geared toward neurodivergence in tech, featuring two powerful live panels where neurodivergent founders shared their unique strengths, personal journeys, and how their innovations are reshaping the world's view of neurodiversity. I was a one-man-band, on the ground covering the live panels, filming interviews, and capturing those unforgettable moments through both video and photography. The energy was inspiring, with founders, investors, and operators all dedicated to addressing neurodiversity in the workplace. Thank you, Christal Wang and Vikram Sreedhar, for trusting me to cover your first #SFTechWeek event! Panelists: Christal Wang - Shimmer Jhillika Kumar - Mentra Eugene Yao - Huddle Dan Freed - Thesis Nathalie Gouailhardou - Neurode Brianne Kimmel - Investor
As a part of our 2 year anniversary series, we're spotlighting our customer success specialist, Amanda Norman's ADHD origin story. And it also happens to be her birthday today. Happy birthday to both Amanda and Shimmer!
Things undiagnosed ADHDers ask themselves that leads to self doubt & lower self confidence👇 ❓ What's wrong with me? ❓ Why can't I just be on time? ❓ Why can't I just stay tidy? ❓ Why can't I just start things early and not procrastinate? ...like everyone else? — These negative messages (and many more), repeated to ourselves over decades, lead to lower self esteem, higher self doubt, and a skewed sense of who we are. This is why it's so important to equip people with ADHD with psycho-education, support, accommodations, understanding, strategies, and tools. So that we can start reframing our lives in context of our ADHD... Reframing to: ✅ What are my unique strengths? ✅ What challenges are BECAUSE of my ADHD, not ME? ✅ What are things that are harder for me because of how my brain is? ✅ What neurotypical standards am I holding myself to? ✅ What neurotypical strategies am I beating myself up over them not working? ✅ What neurodivergent-friendly strategies have I not tried yet? — As a part of our 2 year anniversary series, we're spotlighting the ADHD origin story of our customer success specialist, Amanda Norman. Let us know in the comments if you resonate with her story 😍 — Shimmer is an ADHD coaching platform—built by people with ADHD, for people with ADHD. Check us out for more info on 1:1 coaching for teens & adults with ADHD, body doubling, learning modules, and much more!
We're so excited to sit down with Jesse J. Anderson, Trina Haynes, and Christal Wang for this event on October 24th! Hope to see you there!

Shimmer turns 2. 🥳 Check out a few of our team members sharing what Shimmer means to them!
It's our 2 year anniversary 🥳 On October 12th, 2022, Shimmer launched the first version of our ADHD Coaching platform to the public. It was also when I first shared about my ADHD diagnosis openly. Pretty wild to think back how much has changed since then. Now, 2 years later, we have a team of over 50 incredible humans (operational team & ADHD coaches) who are pushing forward in creating a more neuro-inclusive world together. On our 2nd birthday, I'd like to spotlight a few of our team members that you see less frequently on our socials, but are the driving force behind what we do: ✨ Elisabeth Bridges is our founding product designer. She's put so much care into every flow and pixel our members experience, and brings the critical lens of accessibility into everything we do. ✨ Amanda Norman is our customer success specialist. She meets every member communication with such empathy and grace, leaving them feeling cared for & understood every single time. ✨ Noelle Daoire is our curriculum developer (and also an ADHD coach). They are always advocating for education as a tool for empowerment, and they've developed pretty much any written content you see on our blog and in our app. ✨ Anthony Lin is our sr. software engineer. He uplevels everything we do, leading our small by mighty engineering team in building out durable, useful features that help our members get the most out of their coaching journey. ✨ Alexandra B. is our lead coach & coach operations manager (and also an ADHD coach). She supports the vetting, learning, and development of our incredible ADHD coaches, ensuring the top notch quality of our coaching. Check out the video for each of them sharing what "shimmer" means to them 💖 Vikram Sreedhar and I are SO grateful we get to build everyday with such an incredible and passionate team. Cheers to many more years of this important work.

This week, we hosted the first ever (to my knowledge) Neurodivergent-focused event for TECH WEEK by a16z #SFTechWeek 🧠 And it was a-b-s-o-l-u-t-e-l-y incredible. Throughout & after the event, I heard people who: 👉 Shared about their dyslexia for the FIRST TIME, and felt relieved and accepted after 👉 Cried during the panels because they felt so deeply understood and in community 👉 Met such mission-aligned neurodivergent people that they're considering starting projects & companies with them! 👉 Decided to own their neurodivergence and now are going to make content & speak out on behalf of the community! ...and the stories haven't stopped rolling in yet. — I'm constantly reminded of the power of proud disclosure, open sharing & vulnerability, and building each other up 💜 I'm so proud of being part of such an incredible community and movement. Thank you to the community effort: ▶️ Co-hosts: Shimmer Huddle Mentra Neurode ▶️ Panelists: Brianne Kimmel Eugene Yao Christal Wang Jhillika Kumar Dan Freed Nathalie Gouailhardou ▶️ Exhibitors: Redbloom Health Melati Drinks Radical Neurode ▶️ Swag bag gifts: Thesis Calm Strips Time Timer ▶️ The beautiful space: Wefunder

Save the date! We hope you can join us for an enlightening and engaging panel event, "Voices of ADHD: Latinx Perspectives," on October 9, 2024, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM PDT. We'll explore the unique experiences and challenges faced by the Latinx community in relation to ADHD. The LatinX community has been historically left out of conversations surrounding ADHD and how it's experienced differently across cultures- this event is dedicated to hearing those stories. #adhdawarenessmonth #adhdawareness #adhd #latinx
