We design & deliver inclusive, anti-bias, rigorous approaches, removing gaps between children's potential & achievement.
About us
Our mission is to focus early learning on what matters most - inside classrooms, in partnership with families, and across organizations - to close the achievement gap. All of the Shine Early Learning tools and approaches were developed, implemented, and refined at Acelero Learning, a high-performing Head Start and Early Head Start program serving more than 4,400 children across the nation. Through the integrated implementation of these tools, Acelero Learning has produced some of the largest child outcome gains ever recorded at an individual Head Start program. Acelero Learning's latest evaluation data shows children served for two years making twice the gain of average Head Start program, as compared to the 2009 FACES data. Shine Early Learning is committed to proving that every child can succeed at the highest levels – and that high-impact, proven approaches can help early childhood programs across the country truly make the difference in a child's life. Shine Early Learning offers dedicated resources, high-impact tools, and our new Shine Insight data system to help Head Start and early education programs reach their own ambitious goals.

Last week, the Shine Team attended the 2024 National Shared Services Conference, which emphasized the need for new resources and innovative approaches in early care and education. The conference highlighted how modern technology and collaboration can strengthen the system and create a more impactful future. It was a great opportunity to reconnect with long-time friends, meet new colleagues, and gain insights from industry leaders. We were excited to have a booth in the exhibit area, where attendees explored Shine Early Learning’s Knowledge Hub—your one-stop shop for all things early learning quality, business, and mental health & wellness. Additionally, we sponsored a networking dinner inside SeaWorld, where we not only built meaningful connections but also learned a lot from the shared conversations.

This was a sneak peek before the full event kicked off. As a Double Platinum sponsor of The National Association of State Leaders in Early Education (NASLEE), Shine Early Learning was proud to support and attend NASLEE's signature event, Roundtable 2024, earlier this week. Shine's President, Charlie Geier; Chief Growth Officer, Barbara Montero; and Senior Director of Partnership Development, Michael Bachman, joined early education leaders from 29 states and over 30 organizations to share insights and learning.

Meet Crystal Pimentel, Lead ERSEA Advocate at Acelero Learning! Crystal's journey with Acelero Learning spans 10+ years, starting as a parent volunteer and evolving into an ERSEA Lead. She's passionate about closing the achievement gap and ensuring families have the resources to help their children thrive. Crystal loves that Acelero Learning gives her the opportunity to make a real difference in children's lives. She's witnessed this impact firsthand. For example, she remembers one student who started in her classroom at two years old. This little girl was struggling to reach milestones like sitting up, walking, feeding herself, and talking. But, by working closely with the child's parent and using Acelero Learning's resources, they made amazing progress! Within six months, the child was doing all those things. Moments like these are what make Crystal's work so rewarding. Crystal's coworkers admire her energy, vibrance, and determination. They see how her positive attitude and dedication to enrollment inspire the whole team. Crystal is a true advocate for children and families. She actively connects with local organizations to spread the word about Acelero Learning's programs because she believes every child deserves access to quality education, no matter their age or background. Acelero Learning is incredibly grateful for Crystal and her contributions to the team and the community! #AceleroLearning #EmployeeSpotlight

Meet Alexis Hughes, Assistant Center Director, who has been an integral part of Acelero Learning. Alexis began her journey with us in Early Head Start, where she taught for about three years. She then transitioned to Head Start for two and a half years before taking on her new role as Assistant Center Director. Alexis shares, "Our mission resonates with me most through the value of inclusivity. Through inclusivity, everyone matters. Through inclusivity, education is valued, children, families, and staff are respected, and every child has equal opportunities to succeed." She believes that Acelero Learning’s commitment to inclusivity is the foundation of its success and the key to its bright future. Her coworkers describe her as creative and generous, qualities that make her a cherished member of our Acelero Learning organization. Alexis not only inspires others by encouraging them that it's never too late to go back to school, but she also motivates them with her positive attitude. In every way, Alexis is a valuable contributor to our organization, and we deeply appreciate her contributions. #AceleroLearning #EmployeeSpotlight
