The case study combines user interviews, net promoter score (NPS) surveys, and an end-of-year educator experience survey to assess teachers' perceptions of Short Answer's effectiveness this school year. Thank you to all the educators and students who have embraced our platform this year, nnd a massive thank you to the K12 educators that took the time to contribute to this work. Your feedback has been invaluable as we continue to improve Short Answer. Moving forward, we're excited to conduct more rigorous efficacy research to continue to build out our portfolio of efficacy over time: https://lnkd.in/gKShBcCN. Short Answer has truly altered the way my students view writing. Choosing to incorporate this tool into lessons has led to more engaged students who have a better understanding of what quality writing looks like. My students went from dreading writing to begging me to get on Short Answer. I would encourage any educator to include it into lessons. I believe this is a great way to get students to think critically across all subjects. This truly will transform your class and the way they view the writing process. You will not be disappointed!

The Long Term Impact team is excited to announce our investment in Short Answer. Short Answer helps K-12 teachers build better writers through engaging peer feedback activities for any subject. The company empowers teachers to increase the amount of daily writing practice taking place in their classrooms without increasing their workload. The founders of Short Answer are Adam Sparks, a veteran educator who has taught English and Social Studies in rural, urban, and global classrooms, and Alexa Sparks, an accomplished software engineer and educator. The ability to communicate effectively has never been more important, and the ability to express one’s self well through written word is critical to both life and career success. Daniel Jhin Yoo, Justin Su, and I believe that all children should have access to a high-quality writing instruction. For decades, teachers have been struggling to engage students in the writing process and to provide personalized feedback in a timely manner. The advent of AI has only complicated an already daunting task. Short Answer addresses these problems through a variety of in-class, gamified writing activities that incorporate peer feedback and individual reflection while emphasizing student agency. In doing so, the solution actualizes leading formative assessment research to improve student engagement and learning outcomes across K-12 curricula. At Long Term Impact, we focus on supporting pre-seed founders who have built impactful products and are committed to building sustainable, high-impact businesses that contribute to a more equitable public school system. We believe strongly in the work that Adam and Alexa are doing, and we couldn’t be more thrilled to support them on their journey.
