130 Salem High School students in Construction Trades and Agricultural programs recently gained practical experience while giving back to their community. The students built 20 beds for local children in need with the Dent County, Missouri chapter of Sleep in Heavenly Peace, one of our newest chapters. “I hope you’ll come to understand that this really isn’t just about building beds, it’s about helping our community and being a part of it." said Patti McKeown, chapter president. With the second-highest #poverty rate in #Wisconsin, an estimated 6,000-7,000 children in the Chippewa Valley area don't have their own bed to sleep in each night. 7️⃣0️⃣0️⃣ beds built! A Swing for Charity record! The final Lowe's Foundation Swing for Charity build event of the year today in Albuquerque, New Mexico was an astounding success! With over 500 volunteers from Lowe's Companies, Inc. hardline vendors, suppliers and associates, the goal of building 655 beds was not only met but surpassed. This marks the 12th Swing for Charity event where SHP has partnered with Lowe’s. We are incredibly grateful for their ongoing support in providing safe, comfortable beds to children in need. A total of 24 SHP chapters participated in the Albuquerque Swing for Charity event, showcasing the collective effort and coordination required to make these events a success. Thanks to the Lowe’s Foundation, Lowe’s Home Improvement and their teams, and the dedicated SHP family, 700 beds were built today for children in need. These beds will be distributed by SHP chapters serving the communities of Elephant Butte, NM; Colorado Springs, CO; Topeka, KS; El Paso, TX; North Houston, TX; and Lehi, UT. #SHPbeds #EveryKidDeservesABed #SwingforCharity
