  • In the world of animal health and disease prevention, the role of medical laboratories is paramount. Accurate and timely analysis of samples is crucial for identifying and containing outbreaks, ensuring the safety of livestock and protecting public health. The Regional Association of Animal Health and Identification (ARSIA), a non-profit cooperative in Belgium, faced challenges in managing the large volume of samples they process daily. Through a partnership with Siemens, they were able to streamline their operations, improve traceability, and enhance overall efficiency. ARSIA assists bovine and other animal farmers and veterinarians in preventing and combatting animal diseases. In the event of an outbreak, governments need to have traceability data that lets them identify the source, transmission, and movement of animals. They handle large volumes of samples for daily analysis, including blood samples and cadavers. ARSIA relied on multiple software programs to manage sample flows, which led to unnecessary complexities and inefficiencies. They needed a comprehensive, single-source solution and turned to Siemens Opcenter RD&L. Our local support team ensured their successful integration, providing customization, universal interfaces, and dependable reporting and billing systems. Using Opcenter RD&L, they can track each job and trace it from the source using registered animal ear tag numbers, enabling seamless coordination between veterinarians and the lab. ARSIA now manages multiple analysis requests, herd sample selections, and administrative information with one software program. By streamlining sample tracking and integrating data across their operations in a digital thread, the lab improved traceability and administrative efficiency. #DigitalTransformation #DigitalThread

  • Women comprise just 14.6 percent of the printed circuit board (PCB) designer segment compared to 85.4 percent for men in the U.S., according to Zippia, an online career resource and data intelligence service. Two notable women in PCB design, Charlene McCauley, president of McCaluley Design Group and her senior PCB designer, Terrie Duffy, share their experiences in the male-dominated field of engineering in this podcast. McCauley has been a PCB designer for over 40 years, providing PCB design services to major customers such as Dell. She and Duffy discuss what it takes to address the increasing design complexities and requirements from their customers advanced PCBs and why seamless bi-directional design using ECAD/MCAD collaboration is critical today. Their expertise spans from feasibility studies to schematic capture, complex memory routing, and high density, multi-layered PCB designs. Listen to their insights and how their commitment to problem-solving in a male-dominant field make them stand out for their expertise. Link is in the comments! #PCBDesign #Engineering

  • How do you turn concept art into productive parts? At IMTS 2024, we illustrated the digitalization journey from “art to part.” “Art to part” is the process of transforming creative ideas into physical products by creating virtual designs to detect mistakes early and at lower costs before producing physical prototypes. With software tools like ours, the concepts of digital manufacturing are coming into focus, making "art to part" digital design and manufacturing a reality. Siemens USA president and CEO, Barbara Humpton, discussed the democratization of technology, emphasizing the transformation of manufacturing through the fusion of digital and physical worlds. She highlighted how our software enables small and medium enterprise (SME) manufacturers to enjoy productivity and efficiency previously exclusive to large companies with specialized staff. #IMTS #Digitalization

  • Creating a more sustainable supply chain is a challenge for manufacturers, particularly when it comes to the “last mile” of deliveries, when goods are taken to the doorsteps of the end-user. The power of software can help innovators working towards this goal by eliminating inefficiencies, reducing costs and allowing them to focus on problem-solving. 💡📈 Meet Workhorse, an American technology company focused on pioneering the transition to zero-emission commercial vehicles. They build electric trucks for a more sustainable last-mile delivery and are able to streamline activities across development teams and along the supply chain, thanks to industry software from the Siemens Xcelerator portfolio. As Workhorse launched its lineup of medium-duty electric work trucks, it was supported by Siemens’ Teamcenter X software for cloud-based PLM (product lifecycle management) and by Siemens’ NX for vehicle product engineering and manufacturing. "Standardizing on NX and Teamcenter X has allowed us to integrate our design, engineering, and supply chain functions efficiently," said Jeff Mowry, Chief Information Officer at Workhorse. "Previously, our multi-CAD environment was costly and required extra resources. With Siemens, we've eliminated these inefficiencies and can focus on building complex electric trucks more effectively." “Workhorse standardized on NX combined with Teamcenter X because it delivers the design, integration and data control functions we require to support vehicle production, product development and manufacturing – for any range of product production volumes,” said Dave Bjerke, Vice President of Engineering at Workhorse. To learn more about how Workhorse is revolutionizing last-mile delivery sustainable, zero-emission electric vehicles with the help of the Siemens Xcelerator portfolio of industry software, watch our YouTube video: https://sie.ag/3zZdkx, and visit our newsroom (link in the comments) for more details. #SiemensXcelerator #Innovation #EVs #SaaS

  • Sometimes a leap forward needs a step back. And sometimes, fluid dynamics are involved. It’s Back to the Future Day, and we’re celebrating how research from the 1950s is helping engineers validate the modern digital tools that will help design the next generations of ships. Innovation from recent decades has resulted in faithful digital twins of assets like aircraft, vessels, factories and shipyards. However, the usefulness of the technology depends on the accuracy of these digital models. When faced with the challenge of developing accurate test cases for full scale CFD (computational fluid dynamics) for seagoing vessels, engineers found an unlikely ally in the ship Lucy Ashton. Lucy was a paddle steamer built in 1888 using a unique concept first successfully tested during the 1950s. Using a digital model of this paddler from the past, and comparing results with actual measurements taken in 1950, engineers are laying a foundation for the seafarers of the future. #BackToTheFutureDay #CFD #Digitalization

CHT modeling is a type of thermal simulation that analyzes the exchange of heat between solids and fluids. It's used to predict thermal parameters like temperature distribution and heat flux, which can be useful for designing products to be more durable and energy efficient. #WorldBreadDay #Simulation #CFD
