About us
We are the local face of the national Sierra Club, serving San Benito, San Mateo, and Santa Clara counties, and as such we offer local members and supporters the opportunity to get involved and actively contribute of their talents and skills to the environmental work of the Sierra Club. A lot of other enviro organizations put your dues to work for the environment, but we offer you a way to do that plus physically make a difference. And the opportunities extend all the way from helping build hiking trails to helping haul trash out of a nearby creek to persuading legislators at a city council meeting to pass a riparian corridor ordinance to planning a campaign to get your neighbors involved in an action designed to improve public transit. Not to mention going hiking. And we do have a wide variety of opportunities for volunteers to become involved. For example: - Conservation - Politics - Regional Groups - Outings In all of the above activities, all that is needed on your part is a decision to make a difference, and the desire to make our neighborhoods and country a better place for our children. Our current leaders will be more than happy to show you the ropes, and to get you involved in a way that utilizes your own interests and skills. We also conduct leadership training activities to enable activists to take on leadership roles effectively.

COMMENT LETTER: Boulware Park and Synthetic Turf 📣 📑 To: City of Palo Alto Read the full comment letter at https://lnkd.in/gcFX4w9i 🌱 "During 2019 and through 2021 there were multiple Community Meetings to discuss the upcoming project, and Community feedback was solicited and recorded. In 2022 Staff changed those plans apparently without contacting anyone from the Community or Council. Specifically, “mulch” in the planned dog park was replaced with “synthetic turf.” More egregiously, “synthetic turf” was added to the Boulware children’s playground area, previously assumed by the community to be natural grass. The City should remove synthetic turf from Boulware Park. It was never the public intention to allow plastic grass anywhere in the park but it appears to have been added in the final plan, somewhat surreptitiously, and in several areas." . . . #sierraclub #sierraclublomaprieta #lomaprietachapter #lomaprietaplasticpollutionprevention #boulwarepark
