Let's keep our communities and waste workers safe! Why It Matters: ⚠️ Fire Hazard: Lithium batteries can ignite when damaged, causing dangerous fires in garbage trucks and landfills. 🌍 Environmental Harm: Chemicals from batteries can leach into soil and water, polluting our environment. What You Can Do: ✅ Ban from Bins: Never throw lithium batteries in the trash or recycling bins. 🏪 Direct Drop-offs: Take used lithium batteries to retailers with recycling services or find local drop-off locations at call2recycle.org/locator. 🔒 Tape for Transport: Cover battery terminals with duct tape to prevent fires during transport. 🧊 Keep It Cool: Store batteries at room temperature and avoid high heat.
