Despite Asheville’s reputation as a “climate haven,” Hurricane Helene has shown us that no community is safe from the growing impacts of climate change. Severe flooding devastated local businesses, homes, and infrastructure, leaving the beloved town reeling. There’s no "away" from climate change—it's here. There is no "away" on a storm-tossed planet, as Asheville reporter Jessica Wakeman reports for @sierramagazine https://bit.ly/3ZMvFdF
About us
At the Sierra Club, we believe in the power of togetherness. Together, we remain committed to the fight for a healthy climate built on a foundation of environmental, racial, economic, and gender justice – a future where all people benefit from a healthy, thriving planet and a direct connection to nature. As the climate crisis and deeply entrenched systemic racism all fuel inequity, we will continue to fight for a bold, transformational agenda that recognizes the interconnectedness between our planet, our humanity, and our democracy. By recognizing that our destinies are tied, we continue to name that all things are fundamentally connected, and the overlap between ecology, race, gender, and representative government will move to either advance our collective humanity or to oppress it. Sierra Club is comprised of staff across the country and a network of local chapters that support our grassroots engagement. We are also proud to be a unionized employer, with two labor unions representing more than half of our employees. Please view www.sierraclub.org/careers/ for more information.

The fastest-growing two-wheel mode of transportation is now the e-bike, whose extra nudge of electric assistance feels like a magic carpet. Because there are so many styles to choose from, the big question is, What kind of rider are you? https://bit.ly/4eESViJ ✍️ David Darlington 🎨 Heather Jones

The benefits of riding an E-Bike go beyond reducing your carbon footprint. But with so many different styles to choose from how do you know which one is right for you? “A lot of Climate Week is about adults having these fancy conversations in fancy venues about climate change. Really, this is an essential issue that affects us all, and most importantly, affects the working class and young people who are not in a lot of those spaces and rooms at climate week.” Why young people are protesting during Climate Week in NYC via the Sierra Club ➡️ mala.la/3zH5Wca

Evolve is proud to have hosted our second event to celebrate National Drive Electric Week and our second anniversary! We’re grateful to everyone who participated – our supportive community, knowledgeable vendors, and the EV owners who showcased their vehicles. Your enthusiasm and engagement made this event special. Special thanks to the Electric Vehicle Association, Plug In America, CJ Myers and his team, Delmarva Power, Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control, Winner Ford, Tesla, Sierra Club, Delaware Transit Corporation, and Matthew Meyer for attending. Their expertise and support were instrumental in educating our community about sustainable transportation solutions. We're already looking forward to next year's event, continuing to lead in EV advocacy and education.

Our thoughts are with the communities who are dealing with the devastation of climate-driven extreme weather, and our gratitude goes out to the first responders who are risking their own safety to help others. As with many other recent and deadly storms, it is vulnerable communities that are facing the greatest risk. We need to help ensure a just and equitable recovery that leaves no one behind, and ensure that communities and critical infrastructure are made more resilient against future disasters.
