What if making better decisions wasn't just about following rules but about implementing smart nudges? Richard H. Thaler and Cass R. Sunstein's "Nudge" explores how behavioural science can drive real-world change one decision at a time. Today marks #WorldBookDay, making it an excellent opportunity to highlight a book we love because it clearly illustrates how small adjustments in decision-making can create significant ripple effects—much like the behavioural strategies we employ and activate every day at Signol - #LittleChangesStackUp. We mentioned the book in our latest article, part of the behavioural science series. You can read more here: https://lnkd.in/eavhJQ_N

Fuel efficiency in aviation and maritime is often regarded as a matter of procedures and technology. But what influences whether each member of your crew engages in efficient and sustainable behaviours? In our latest blog post, our CXO and Behavioural Scientist Divya Sukumar, PhD dives into the behavioural science behind fuel-saving actions, exploring the human factors that drive decision-making and impact fuel consumption through the lens of the COM-B framework. Discover our insights into crew behaviour: https://lnkd.in/etkQpdNn This is the second blog article in our Behavioural Science series, which aims to unlock sustainable operational practices by deepening our understanding of human behaviour during voyages and flights. We're keen to hear your thoughts, questions or suggestions in the comments or via the Contact Us page on our website. #LittleChangesStackUp #BehaviouralScience #Aviation #Pilots #Maritime #Seafarers #HumanCentricity

We all want to see our teams achieve ambitious goals like cutting fuel costs and emissions. But how do you motivate highly skilled professionals to change their behaviour? It's about more than just "nudges." In our latest blog post, Divya Sukumar, PhD dives into the behaviour change techniques we use at Signol to help airline pilots and seafarers make a real impact – from personalised goals to impactful social proof. Here’s what we're exploring: • Why "one-size-fits-all" behaviour change doesn't work for professionals. • How we tailor techniques to aviation and maritime contexts. • Real-world examples of how personalised goals, social proof, and impact reframing drive results. Today, we're launching a new crew-led decarbonisation trial with Ultranav. This trial will create direct pathways to reduce maritime emissions driven by efficiency gains that crew can achieve during their daily operations. We want to thank the Ultranav teams for their dedication and for sharing our ambition to reduce carbon emissions by motivating and positively engaging their crews to act on their opportunities. We also want to thank our team members for working on delivering a seamless Signol user experience to Ultranav's crews on various fleets. As Ultranav takes another step towards reducing fuel consumption, Bas Blaak, Head of Energy Efficiency & Sustainability, recognises the impact a service like Signol can make: “We recognise the significant potential in Signol’s service and firmly believe that every tonne of saved CO2 counts. Even small adjustments to our daily routines can contribute to the overall goal. Signol’s data-driven approach aims to motivate and inspire the crew to adopt these changes rather than impose decisions upon them, and this is an approach we value. We look forward to following the results from the trial.” Read the news on TradeWinds: https://lnkd.in/esiitQ3Y.
