How do you command a Black Hawk® helicopter to perform a mission autonomously from 300 miles away? During the Association of the United States Army's annual meeting in Washington, D.C., (#AUSA2024), visitors and U.S. Army senior leaders saw how a Black Hawk helicopter integrated with Sikorsky's MATRIX™ autonomy system can receive remote mission commands in real-time. Then, carry out that mission on its own, using its onboard autonomous systems, without remote control or pilot inputs. Learn more about the future of autonomous flight: https://lmt.co/3YbWrdb
#OTD in 1974, Sikorsky Chief Pilot Dick Wright and UTTAS Chief Pilot John Dixson took off from Stratford, CT, in the YUH-60A for the first time. Since that initial flight, we've produced over 5,000 Hawk variants for the Army, Air Force, Navy, Coast Guard and 36 countries worldwide. Black Hawks have flown 15 million flight hours including 5 million in combat. The helicopters have saved thousands of lives, from combat medevac to domestic search and rescue. Today’s Black Hawk has never stopped improving to meet the ever-changing needs of our operators. And tomorrow's Black Hawk will be even better.
We're installing our ALIAS/MATRIX™ flight autonomy system onto the US Army’s experimental fly-by-wire Black Hawk, allowing them to test a wide range of autonomy capabilities, from single pilot operation to fully uninhabited flight. 🔗 Learn what this means for the future of contested logistics: https://lmt.co/3U9LyHw #AUSA2024

This morning, I attended the Connecticut Manufacturing Summit and had the opportunity to network and connect with fellow leaders, suppliers and manufacturers across the industry. Connecticut is home to some of the greatest innovation and manufacturing excellence – and a part of this year’s summit was the unveiling of the ‘Coolest Thing Made in Connecticut’ winner. It was an honor to see the Black Hawk as a finalist in this inaugural competition, and on behalf of the entire Sikorsky team, I’d like to congratulate Kevin Graney and his entire team on the Virginia-Class Submarine’s win. Thank you to Sikorsky’s world-class workforce and our suppliers who contribute to the Black Hawk’s mission-success, to all who voted throughout the competition and lastly, to CBIA, for shining a spotlight on manufacturing in our state.
