MOVING WITH COLOR CODING To make the move more efficient its a good idea to color code each persons items - e.g clothes, bedroom furniture in fact anything that belongs to each person that is designated for their bedroom including boxes. Make a color code chart to stick on the entrance of the property and also a notice for the each room with the name of the room and chosen color and stick it on the doorway of that room. This really helps the movers to speed up the moving in process which ultimately saves time and also money ! Moving hanging garments tip When moving hanging clothes from the closets it’s not always necessary to use bulky and expensive wardrobe boxes. For in state moves we take the clothes on their hangers wrapped in clear plastic bags . Take a group of hangers ( around 4-6) secure the tops with rubber bands make a small hole in the bottom of the bag and place over the hangers. Then pull the drawstrings -that are now at the bottom of the clothes -tight to close the bottom of the bag. This is not only a convenient way to transport hanging garments but it saves time for the movers and makes unpacking a dream. If there more members of the family that have hanging garments color code the bags accordingly so that they are placed in the correct closets by the movers first time around! These bags are readily available from Home Depot or Lowes but I have found the ones from Amazon are a good size and the best value. DM me and I’ll send you the link. HOW TO WASH SOFT TOYS We get it. Washing your faves can be scary but it doesn't have to be! Toys get dirty especially dog toys! Luckily cleaning them is easy. Tips on getting toys clean below. Gather up soft, plush toys in a mesh laundry bag and toss into the washing machine....bag and all!!  Keeping the toys contained, while in the wash, helps prevent fuzz and other bits and pieces from getting loose. Sprinkle baking soda and a few capfuls of white vinegar into the machine and set to a warm.gentle cycle. Once complete transfer your mesh bag of toys to the dryer on a low or air only setting. If it's a sunny day skip the dryer and dry outdoors P.S. This is a hard decision for both the person moving and the family moving them so making the transition as smooth as possible is paramount Apart from the emotional aspect there are many factors to consider - space being one of the most difficult. Try to take with what’s important - a favorite chair, pictures of the family, special art pieces for the walls etc., Pair down the closets as to what is essential as they are usually quite small. CLOSET ORGANIZING Closets come in all shapes and sizes and are organized accordingly. These are one of our favorite spaces to organize- here are some of our pointers:- Stuffing f pocket books with paper so that they not only stand up like soldiers but helps keep their shape. Use bins where needed on the shelves especially if a shortage or drawers Changing the hangers to one type always adds a finishing touch but not a necessity. Organizing the clothes into zones is a good way of saving time if in a hurry to get out of the home! Color coding is also preferable but not always again a necessity. Old pantry v New Pantry set up Moving home, renovating or just because it needs it, is the perfect excuse to set up a new pantry system . When moving or just reorganizing a pantry first check all the dates. We set up this new pantry with bins from @Target and @the container store and printed labels to help keep the system in place. We used an over the door organizer for al the spices which freed up cupboard space in the new kitchen. It can be a bit challenging rather like playing Tetris to fit it all in especially trying to keep all breakfast, baking items, oils vinegar pasta etc., together in zones.
