Retaining teachers and support staff is a continuing priority—and it’s no surprise, given that 55% of districts report they’re short-staffed. 😬 Some strategies superintendents are finding success with include: 1️⃣ Flexible Professional Development: Tailoring PD to individual teacher needs with online, self-paced options has been a hit. 2️⃣ Mentorship Programs: Pairing new educators with experienced ones boosts confidence and retention, with some districts seeing up to a 20% increase in first-year teacher retention. 3️⃣ Mental Health Support: Superintendents report that providing access to mental health resources, like counseling and workshops on stress management, improves morale and reduces burnout. 💡 These strategies help build a workplace culture where teachers feel supported, and their impact on teacher retention and satisfaction is measurable.

Month of gratitude 🙏 We are so thankful for all admin, staff, and educators that give of themselves every day to our students. ❤️ A November Activity: Create a Gratitude Garden 1️⃣ Prepare the Garden: Set up a large piece of paper or bulletin board titled “Our Gratitude Garden.” 2️⃣ Create Gratitude Leaves: Give each student a piece of construction paper and ask them to cut out the shape of a leaf. 3️⃣ Expressing Gratitude: Ask students to write or draw something they are grateful for on their leaf. Encourage them to think beyond material things, like friendships, family, favorite activities, or even things they enjoy at school. 4️⃣ Sharing in a Circle: Invite each student to share what they’ve written with the class. 5️⃣ Building the Garden: Attach each leaf to the bulletin board or large paper to create a colorful, collaborative "Gratitude Garden" as a reminder of all the positive things they have. 6️⃣ Reflection: Encourage the class to observe the “Gratitude Garden” throughout November and add new leaves whenever they feel grateful for something else.

Using a few of the popular AI tools, we were able to ascertain that superintendents "sentiment' is still skeptical of edtech's ability to truly integrate and not cause bottlenecks. 🤖 We were too. As past superintendents, educators and users, we knew we needed tools to improve performance and manage costs but had a few bad tech experiences, and many implementation headaches with other tools. 🛠️ Which is why we have solved for this at Slate. 💪 We welcome a chance to talk through how we did this. And we've created an implementation guide that you can use for any edtech deployment. Check it out. 👇 https://lnkd.in/e5J98Mvs

We were curious to see how "smart" they were - so we asked AI to create a short list of ways teachers could best prepare for the day ahead. 🤖 Here's what one AI tool generated: 1. Wake up early to allow ample time for preparation 2. Start with some light exercise or stretching to energize the body 3. Practice mindfulness or meditation to center thoughts 4. Eat a nutritious breakfast to fuel the day ahead 5. Review lesson plans and gather any necessary materials 6. Check and respond to important emails 7. Listen to educational podcasts or read professional development materials during commute Sound good to you? 👍 We humans know that one substitute teacher opening throws this whole "plan" out the window! 😵💫 But it doesn’t have to… Get your morning back! ☀️ www.https://https://lnkd.in/gT-3HxUW

One trend that’s catching on because it gets results? Structuring board and student communication! 🤝 🌟 Top tips! • Create student advisory committees to provide input on policies • Invite student representatives to attend and speak at board meetings • Implement feedback systems like suggestion boxes or digital platforms • Host town halls where students can directly engage with board members • Encourage board members to visit schools and interact with students regularly
