Sims Venture Capital (SVC) is an incubator and venture capital company located in Tennessee. We currently have holdings in the insurance, digital advertising, web development, and pet care industries and are currently seeking new partner opportunities! Unlike other venture firms who only bring capital, we bring so much more. SVC brings not only the capital, but more importantly, the expertise to help you and your company achieve your goals. We also provide ancillary services such as in-house legal counsel, accounting, marketing, design, back office, training, and even management support as well. Our appetite is quite diverse, having holdings in the insurance, digital advertising, web development, and pet care industries. Though we are very targeted and strategic with our investments, we are agile enough to consider companies in just about any industry. Using an extremely broad range of technical expertise, we bring a robust team of diverse talent to bear and have successfully navigated the complex world of start-up businesses many times. Likewise, we have had the great pleasure of helping struggling business owners turn their existing, and in some cases very old companies, around. We use Personality Pool for our hiring now, and have loved how this saves us time in screening calls and gives us an early idea of what the candidate would be like on our team!
Not all resumes are created equal & we cannot keep measuring a candidate's value based on a two dimensional, traditional resume. You can teach people how to sell your product, make your coffee/food, how to treat your customers but you cannot teach someone to be nice. You also can't teach someone to be the right cultural fit. I think character based hiring evens the playing field because the traditional metrics (which are often all we see on a resume) that we use to determine what makes a good employee are out the window and it comes down to “is this personality a good fit for our team.” Personality Pool gives candidates a chance to shine in a new way which really excites me.
