Cleveland Central Promise Neighborhood, a collective impact initiative sponsored by St. Vincent Charity Community Health Center fostering community leadership and innovation, hosted a series of three summer Brunch and Learns for Central-Kinsman Ambassadors and resident leaders. The sessions were an opportunity to explore frameworks and models for personal leadership and community engagement. The Sisters of Charity Foundation of South Carolina recently announced its cycle 1 grant awards. In this funding distribution, the foundation awarded 94 grants totaling $1,307,000 to nonprofit organizations working to reduce poverty in South Carolina. The community-led, nonprofit newsroom Signal Cleveland recently wrote about Joseph & Mary's Home and its role in helping people experiencing homelessness in need of medical respite care following a hospital stay - people who are easy to overlook. “We see people without a lot of choices,” said Beth Graham, executive director of the Joseph & Mary’s Home. “Housing for our population is our healthcare.” Read more here: https://bit.ly/4cCKbIu

Joseph & Mary's Home, Cleveland’s only provider of post-hospital medical respite care for people experiencing homelessness, will begin construction in July to renovate and relocate its facility for men. To support this transformational project, “A New Home for Healing” Campaign has a goal of raising $2.5 million. To date, a total of $1.95 million has been raised, and Joseph & Mary’s Home is excited to announce a matching gift of $150,000 from the Sisters of Charity of St. Augustine to inspire community support. After an extensive national search, Michael J. Goar has been named as the new health system president and CEO. He will lead our Cleveland-based Catholic nonprofit in our next era of service. Goar, an accomplished executive with over 25 years driving impact for mission-driven organizations, will assume the role on July 22, succeeding Jan Murphy. The Sisters of Charity Foundation of Canton Board of Directors has announced $756,149 in grants for the first and second quarters of 2024. The grants fall under three areas: responsive efforts that focus on responding to specific or short-term community needs, strategic collaborations that focus on work alongside others to launch programs that build capacity and increase effectiveness in community services, and foundation-led initiatives that focus on systemic change.
