⚡️ We kicked off #NationalDriveElectricWeek with our EV Expo + Ride & Drive at Paypal Park with San Jose Earthquakes Soccer this past Saturday! Over 180 people test-drove some of the latest EV models and learned about the many incentives and rebates available. After their test drives, attendees learned more about electric vehicles, scooters, and bikes, from booths and EV owners at the expo while enjoying music from our DJ powered by a City of San José all-electric Chevy Silverado. Thank you to Acterra for co-hosting this event with us and to Earthquakes goalie JT Marcinkowski for signing autographs! Check out our new EV webpage to explore electric vehicle options, savings, charging stations, and more at https://lnkd.in/gnvEdi5d

#NationalCleanEnergyWeek – Today’s Highlight : Agrivoltaics 🐑 While solar panels are busy turning sunlight into electricity, sheep are also “hard at work” chowing down the surrounding vegetation at your newest power plant, Scarlet Solar Energy Park. These sheep in Fresno County supported the preparations for the solar energy park by feeding on the land’s vegetation. This new approach to vegetation management is bringing together agriculture and renewable energy development, and is known as “agrivoltaics,” which also benefits family-owned businesses like Indart Solar Sheep Grazing. #NationalCleanEnergyWeek – Today’s Highlight : Batteries 🔋 Batteries may not be the first thing that comes to mind when you think about clean energy, but they are quickly bridging the gap during hours when the sun isn’t shining and the wind isn’t blowing. Over the last 5 years, battery storage in California has increased 7x. Despite our especially hot summer, “battery packs did so well this year that the state did not have any power shortages, disruptions, or flex alerts asking people to reduce their power consumption.” - https://lnkd.in/gWVSJ8yM San José Clean Energy recently added another 10 megawatts of battery storage to the grid at Scarlet Solar Energy Park in Fresno County, CA, earlier this year. #NationalCleanEnergyWeek – Today’s Highlight: Wind 🌬 San José Clean Energy is a big FAN of wind – considering it comes in a close 2nd place behind solar in the clean energy we provide customers. However, wind expansion in California has slowed in recent years due to transmission shortages, permitting rules, local opposition, and more. To meet the needs of a clean energy future, the state is looking to offshore wind, which may one day provide enough energy to power 25 million homes: https://lnkd.in/gE8sbJt4 Check out our service options to learn more and even sign up for 100% renewable energy here: https://lnkd.in/g_kHz6hK

#NationalCleanEnergyWeek – Today’s Highlight: Solar ☀ “On April 11, solar alone provided more than 100 percent of demand for the first time ever in California: solar supply exceeded demand for 1.5 hours, reaching a peak of 102.4 percent of demand during that period. That record was subsequently smashed on April 21, when solar peaked at 123.9 percent of demand.” https://lnkd.in/eEp-x8Bt Solar energy is expanding rapidly in California and San José Clean Energy is helping to lead the charge, recently adding 100 megawatts of solar power to the grid at our latest solar plant. Meet Mani Bekele, a Commissioner on the City of San José’s Climate Advisory Commission! He is a sophomore in high school and dual-enrolled at Foothill College. We checked in with him at Silicon Valley Youth Climate Action’s Youth Leadership Summit last month and here’s what he had to say: “I'm so excited and honored to be serving as a youth representative on San José's Climate Advisory Commission. I'm very involved with the community of young environmentalists in San José, so this is a wonderful way to bring all of our perspectives to the civic process.” Learn more about the Climate Advisory Commission: https://lnkd.in/g_2abd8v
