Conquering the complexities of Sjögren's

About us

The Sjögren's Foundation is proud to be the only national non-profit organization focused on increasing research, education and awareness for Sjögren's. Founded in 1983 by Elaine Harris, a frustrated patient, the Foundation's mission was simple: help patients cope with their Sjögren's, increase awareness, and support research efforts. Today, our mission has remained the same while we have grown into a multi-faceted organization that has expanded its outreach, increased its funding for research, education, and awareness of this debilitating disease. In addition, the Foundation is an internationally recognized organization shaping the industry in terms of research, education, patient care, advocacy and new therapies. As the Foundation continues to expand, our commitment to patients will never change; they are the reason we were founded and the reason we continue to operate today.

Celebrate World Sjögren's Day July 23rd. World Sjögren's Day was created by the Sjögren's Foundation to raise much needed awareness and funds for Sjögren's. It is marked every year on July 23rd, the birthday of Dr. Henrik Sjögren, the Swedish ophthalmologist who discovered Sjögren's. The Foundation is joined by organizations around the world to draw attention to Sjögren's and the disease's impact on millions of patients. Funds raised are used to help further critical Sjögren's research, adocacy, and awareness. In honor of our 40th Anniversary, Amgen will match all donations up to $40,000. World Sjögren's Day is meant to put a face on the millions of people who live with this disease or suffer from symptoms and have yet to be diagnosed. It gives everyone touched by Sjögren's a vehicle to reach out and educate those close to them - family, friends, co-workers, neighbors, etc. - about the disease. It is the ideal opportunity for you to have your voice heard and to spread awareness about this life-altering disease. Leading up to World Sjögren's Day and especially on the day itself, talk about Sjögren’s with the people in your life. Share your story and educate others! By doing so, you are helping spread the message that Sjögren's is a serious disease that deserves to be recognized. You may also be helping someone who is looking for answers to their own questions. New Session Alert! Join us for a special live chat session on Friday, April 5th at 3:40-4:50pm (ET)! In this special session, individuals attending the live conference will have an opportunity to join our Chat With a Doc session and ask Rheumatologist Dr. Donald Thomas questions about Sjögren’s. This is not a personal medical session, and no private medical advice will be given. However, we know so many patients don’t have access to Sjögren’s experts and Dr. Thomas has graciously agreed to join us for this Q & A opportunity! Dr. Thomas will be selecting questions he knows may not be covered by other speakers, so we encourage you to read through all presentations before crafting your question, as they may be covered by presenters in our conference sessions. This is your opportunity to ask Dr. Thomas about Sjögren’s and how the disease may present differently in patients. Join us live on Friday, April 5th to chat with Dr. Thomas!
