🎉 At CSS, we're ringing in Seollal (or Seolnal), the Korean Lunar New Year, and we're celebrating with a personalized twist! 🎉 Rather than bombarding you with facts (because… 🥱), we asked some of our amazing coworkers how they celebrated Seollal as kids and what makes it so special to them. First up: Saebae-don! 🤑 The thrill of bowing to elders for good fortune and getting money in return…what’s not to love? The more elders present, the more cash you’d get. Talk about motivation for those deep bows! 🙇♂️💸 While traditional games like Go-Stop and Yutnori are still played, family is the center around which all of Seollal spins. Some played tennis, some went bowling, and others hit the movies, all to be together. 🌍👨👩👧👦 And of course, Tteokguk, rice cake soup! 🍲 This is the iconic holiday dish (and our coworkers’ favorite), and a serious contender for “Best Comfort Food.” Some like it with beef broth, others with fish broth. But everyone agrees: the more ingredients, the better the flavor. Plus, it’s said that eating a bowl helps you grow taller. (No wonder the kids are all in for seconds... or thirds! 😉) ☝ A fun little tidbit: Seollal isn’t just about food, family, and fun - it’s also a day to celebrate history. In fact, the holiday has roots in the Samguk Yusa, a collection of ancient stories that go back to the 13th century. ❕ Did you know that from 1907 to 1989, celebrating Seollal was banned due to pressure from Japan? It was only in 1989 that the South Korean government brought it back as a national holiday. A huge victory for tradition! ✨ After all that celebrating, you might find yourself suffering from a bit of post-holiday burnout - also known as Myung Cheol Chung Hu Kun (we feel you, holiday hangover vibes)! 😅 So, whether you're celebrating or reminiscing, we want to hear from you: What’s your favorite Seollal memory? For our mid-west locals, it’s a bit chilly out there, isn’t it? Totally tundra-esque. 🥶 But. ☝ Here’s what’s making us feel all warm inside: The incredible generosity of our team. Our employees came together to support local families in need, filling Santa sacks and stockings until they were nearly bursting at the seams. In addition to the gift donations, we were able to give a generous cash/gift card donation to our selected families to truly make sure they had the best holiday possible. We’re incredibly proud of CSS’s giving spirit and grateful to be part of this selfless team. Yesterday at SK Siltron CSS in Auburn and Bay City, employees shared their favorite Thanksgiving dishes and plenty of conversations as we celebrated the holiday early. It’s always fun to take time away from the workspace to chat with colleagues and share a delicious meal, especially when there is pie! 🥧

Today is the opening day of firearm deer hunting season in Michigan. Many of our employees will be spending the next few days in the woods. SK Siltron CSS wishes all hunters good luck and a safe hunt. No deer is worth your life, please remember to follow the rules of firearm safety and make sure you are tied off any time your feet leave the ground. We hope to hear of happy hunts and great stories when you return. Aim small, miss small!

SK Siltron CSS is excited to announce the signing of the final agreement with the US Department of Energy's Loan office under the Advanced Technology Vehicle Manufacturing (ATVM) Program. This allows us to enhance our production, research & development of silicon carbide (SiC) wafers, which is excellent news for the semiconductor industry and the Great Lakes Bay Region.
