Pavement Surface Technologies for the Transportation and Aviation Industries

About us

SKIDABRADER, a leading pavement and surface technology company based in the United States, stands out with its unique Contract Services. These services, which encompass three trusted brands of service, are the go-to choice for airports, transportation industries, government agencies, and national retail and industrial chains across North America. At SKIDABRADER, we are unwavering in our commitment to the success of your projects. Our goal is to make roads. The SKIDABRADER GROUP was established following Blastrac’s Global acquisition of specific and unique surface preparation technologies and equipment manufacturers. These technologies and equipment provided services to companies that could not afford or could not purchase such expensive machines. As with most specialized manufacturers with proprietary technologies, our services include rentals and demonstrations of products to meet the immediate needs of transportation entities for safety or application purposes. Using our 30M fleet to remove rubber or texture roads is crucial for public safety and to meet federal and state requirements. We take our role in these applications very seriously and operate under the strictest safety protocols. Our machines are among the most sophisticated in their respective applications, and our fleet is unmatched globally with a high level of investment. Our team brings vast experience and continuity in these markets through the combination of these companies, ensuring the highest level of knowledge, production, safety, and execution. Our facilities, protocols, machine conditions, and the professionalism of our crew are the best in the transportation industry. We are fully invested in what we do on every level. Our references in the US Military Airfield, International Airports, States, NASA, and the Federal government cover 30 years of expert workmanship across thousands of projects. What we do saves lives and provides safety.

WJ's first high friction surface treatment (HFST) job of 2024 was done on the Southbound exit off I-95 to Congress Ave in Boca Raton, FL. This exit ramp is known as the Most Dangerous Overpass in South Florida. In 2017 an article in the Palm Beach Post stated "Statistics show that the Congress Ave and I-95 overpass in Boca Raton could be the most dangerous exit and entrance ramp in South Florida, with more than 150 crashes there since 2011. Three fatalities have occurred as a result of those crashes, and more than half resulting in injuries" This exit ramp had a HFST installed in 2018 to reduce these accidents In 2023, the original HFST was deemed to be worn and ineffective. WJ, working with Skidabrader Group and Prince Contracting, LLC milled and removed the old layer and installed a new HFST layer to improve the safety of this ramp. Below is a flyover view of the Congress Avenue ramp with the new HFST application installed. #highfrictionsurfacetreatments #highwaysafety #highwayengineering

Skidabrader, a leading innovator in pavement maintenance, proudly announces the launch of its Aviation Division, dedicated to providing cost-effective solutions for runway friction recovery. John Hunter, a seasoned industry professional with more than 20 years' experience in airfield pavement maintenance, will lead the division as Director of Aviation Services. John Hunter, Director of Aviation Services, Aviation Division at Skidabrader Hunter's extensive background encompasses sales, management, contracting, and manufacturing within the pavement maintenance industry. He is actively involved in local, state and national industry trade conferences, offering educational sessions and collaborating with airports, consulting engineers, and State Aeronautics Departments to develop pavement maintenance solutions and long-term strategies. "Airports are vital lifelines for civilian and military communities of all sizes, and our services directly relate to safety, the most important concept in aviation," commented John Hunter. "I'm pleased we can deliver cost-effective solutions for runway friction recovery and look forward to developing solutions for our broad set of airport and airfield customers and stakeholders." Skidabrader's Aviation Division currently serves dozens of military and civilian airports, providing abrading and an ultra-high pressure water process, ensuring the safest possible runway conditions in the face of challenges posed by constant tire scuffing and rubber build-up. The bi-directional abrasion process brings runway texture back into FAA compliance and promotes surface drainage, allowing tires to make contact with new points of aggregate, and improving friction results. This new division reinforces Skidabrader's commitment to safety and innovation in the airfield industry. "We collectively have hundreds of years of expertise in pavement texturing, and we're seeing strong growth in the aviation, airport and airfield spaces, based on results we're driving for private industry, public sites and multiple branches of the military," commented Skidabrader CEO Stephen Klugherz. "John is broadly well-respected, and we're proud he's taking the helm to lead our team of industry experts." About Skidabrader Skidabrader, headquartered in Fort Worth, Texas, is a leading company specializing in innovative pavement maintenance, texturing and hard surface friction recovery to increase the safety of airports, runways, roads and bridges.
