If you want to get a sense of what it’s like working with and for Skydio, take a look at this Bloomberg article. https://lnkd.in/e27UsRyx Ashlee Vance and Drake Bennett spent over a year with us. They went onsite to customer locations, they toured our manufacturing facilities, they joined us for internal executive meetings, they interviewed dozens of people inside and outside of Skydio. The transition of drones from toys ➤ tools ➤ infrastructure is happening. Today, pre-positioned Docks are housing drones that launch in seconds to gain real-time situational awareness of any incident. Drones are remotely piloted from tens, hundreds, even thousands of miles away. Autonomy is not a feature; it’s an architecture — and this is what is making this future possible. But it’s not easy challenging the status quo. The technical challenges are hard. Change is difficult to accept for those stuck in operating a single way. Yet our customers across more than 2,800 organizations are succeeding every single day - keeping our communities safe, keeping the lights on, and helping secure our nation — these are the industries that form the backbone of our civilization and we are proud to support them.

One question that comes up in DFR is: 🧑✈️ I've got a Pilot in Command outside with view of the drone and surrounding airspace 🖥️ I've got another individual inside who is operating the drone (the person manipulating controls) 𝗜𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗮 𝗩𝗶𝘀𝘂𝗮𝗹 𝗟𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗦𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻? It's a beyond visual line of sight operation and here is why. The good news is that it's getting easier to get FAA approvals to do this kind of operation. It's even possible to skip the Visual Observer phase and jump right into fully remote operations without Visual Observers. We've done it for agencies like New York Police Department, Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, Oklahoma Police Department, and many more! 𝐒𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝 𝐨𝐧. In addition to having built-in heaters to melt snow and ice, Dock is designed to break through accumulated ice to be ready for a mission in any conditions. The number one feature of any Dock/DFR system is reliability, and Dock for X10 reflects years of real-world learnings and technology development.

𝗠𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗯𝗮𝗱 𝘄𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗗𝗼𝗰𝗸 𝘁𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴: the wind is so stiff the hard-mounted security camera filming this video is shaking. The drone's autonomy system is using computer vision to stay locked onto the Dock in spite of the rain, while the control system is estimating and adapting to the wind in realtime. It intentionally times its landing for a lower wind and higher alignment moment.

On a military base, every detail counts. Skydio drones use autopilot to follow pre-set routes, inspecting critical areas - from checking door locks to spotting potential vulnerabilities. Equipped with Scylla, an advanced AI sensor, the system scans for threats like intruders, flagged individuals, license plates on watchlists, and weapons. Scylla relays this information back to the drone, enhancing its scanning capabilities.
