“Everyone agrees it won’t be long before this new technology becomes a regular part of first response.” San Francisco Mayor London Breed and San Francisco Police Department (SFPD) Chief Scott showcased their new drone program this week, where Drone as First Responder (DFR) will play a vital role in helping to build a safer Bay Area region. Drones can be deployed in the field or remotely to help lead to better outcomes like safer arrests, and have contributed to a 34% drop in crime locally. They also invited San Jose Mayor Matt Mahan and new San Jose Police Department Chief Paul Joseph to participate in the demo. San Jose is excited to explore implementing DFR the way San Francisco has. With winds reaching >180 mph, storm surges, and intense rainfall throughout Florida, Hurricane Milton spawned devastating tornadoes, washed out bridges, and damaged waterways. All of this destruction contributed to massive flooding across the state, even in areas untouched by flooding in 50 years. After the storm hit, Skydio volunteers helped to map the large-scale flooding for first responders. Drones were also used to monitor structural damage and provide overwatch for ongoing search and rescue missions. Honored for the chance to stand beside these brave responders, our volunteers accumulated 30+ hours of flight time in over 170 individual flights in the five days immediately following the storm. View the flooding in Pasco County in the livestream recording clip (sped-up) below and as we honor 𝗡𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗙𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗽𝗼𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗗𝗮𝘆, read more stories on the huge impact of first responders post-storm at https://lnkd.in/gBWcj4XD

Something special happened in Boston this year at #IACP — the future of public safety started to look like the actual future of public safety. It became glaringly obvious to anyone still on the sidelines: Drone as First Responder (DFR) is the undisputed next frontier in policing and public safety. #DFR #Droneasfirstresponder

There are a lot of thoughts and emotions surrounding the current state we are in regards to UAS and the drone community, however you can’t turn a blind eye to a company that supports you even when you aren’t an actual client. Skydio not only showed up, but provided access to pilots and engineers, as well as Adam Bry himself to assist Asheville in this response! Thank you Adam, Brian, Matt, and Rachel for the outpouring of support.

Together, we’re ensuring the integration of the X10 high-quality video footage and telemetry into the Axon Fusus platform is seamless, through a pre-built integration with Skydio DFR Command. By incorporating live Skydio drone footage with the real-time crime center data from Axon Fusus, stakeholders are equipped with the comprehensive situational awareness crucial to deciding their next move. This is just the beginning. Learn more about what we showcased at #IACP2024: https://lnkd.in/gsh3rn8X

NYPD’s drone operators were at Truman High School, engaging with our youth and sharing the diverse opportunities within the department. Great to see your officers inspiring the next generation of leaders of our city! Public safety will always depend on community engagement.

As Hurricane Milton reached landfall in Florida, the forceful winds tore the fabric right off the roof of Tropicana Field, home of Major League Baseball (MLB)'s Tampa Bay Rays. In an effort to minimize risk to responding personnel, a team of volunteers from Skydio conducted a 3D scan and map capture with an X10 from a safe distance outside the stadium. See how the Trop looks inside post-storm from sped-up footage below and read more about the dedicated work of first responders in the days after the hurricanes. https://lnkd.in/gzF9zEAG
