During the hottest week of the year, our interns hopped into a van and headed out on an epic roadtrip! Touring Oregon and Southwest Washington, this incredible group of students visited 8 active Slayden jobsites. They covered nearly 1,000 miles, chauffeured by our HR Manager, Angie Schornstein. They got to see firsthand the unique nature of every one of our projects – from a fish sorting facility to a large-scale wastewater treatment plant. More important than just witnessing so many new aspects of construction was the opportunity to connect with and ask questions of our onsite project teams. Our project engineers, project managers, superintendents, and foreman were all excited to share the reasons they chose construction and why they are at Slayden. We wish all our interns a wonderful remainder of their program with us and into the next school year. We've just wrapped up the demolition of the reservoir lid at our project site in Beaverton! This milestone marks progress towards enhancing water service capacity in a rapidly expanding community, and features a new pump station and transmission line. As we continue with the multi-step demolition, we're also dismantling aging pump stations and entire reservoirs with engineering and excavation support.
