We had an incredible time at RE+ Mid-Atlantic last week! Here are a few standout moments and ideas that shaped the event: From Garrett Fitzgerald's "Navigating the Road Ahead" session, we learned that ensuring high customer participation in managed charging programs hinges on providing a seamless and hassle-free experience. 🔌 From Ashley Lynn Qua’s "Grid in Transition" session, we discussed the challenges of balancing today’s grid while planning for future needs demands both cultural and technological flexibility and cross-coordination. ⚡ A recurring theme across multiple panels was that leveraging data is crucial for the cost-effective and efficient integration of assets into the grid system, and current practices need to evolve to fully realize these benefits.  📊🔍 Your turn: What do you think are the biggest challenges and opportunities for our grid's future? 🔋🌱 Achieving a balance between affordability and sustainability in energy requires shifting from cost-focused strategies to holistic approaches that consider carbon reduction and resilience. Utilities have adapted their strategies in response to sometimes dramatic regulatory changes, balancing decarbonization goals with economic feasibility and grid stability. However, there is much more to the conversation. In 2023, we partnered with NC Clean Energy Technology Center (NCCETC) through the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE)'s Advancing Community Energy Resilience (RACER) grant. NCCETC and SEPA have been engaging electric utilities and communities across North Carolina to collect data and develop resilience metrics to better capture the value of solar PV and energy storage projects. 💻 Project Highlight: On May 31, 2024, NCCETC and SEPA hosted a roundtable with nine NC electric cooperative and municipal utilities to discuss enhancing resilience in disaster-prone areas. 🗣️ Get Involved!
