Congratulations to our President and CEO, James Deutsch, on his appointment to the Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association’s (SIFMA) Board of Directors! He will be serving a three-year term starting on November 1, 2024. SIFMA advocates on many areas, such as legislation, regulation and business policy that can affect our clients. We echo the sentiments stated in the press release linked below that Jim will bring the same level of drive to the SIFMA board as he does for Smith Moore.

The art supply drive for St. Louis Children’s Hospital’s Art Therapy program was a success! In working with staff in the Art Therapy program, Smith Moore learned the most needed items for their patients. The #1 item is white Model Magic clay. Patients love to add color to it, using markers, to make it their own. The Model Magic clay helps cancer patients manage pain and behavioral health patients with their anxiety. Smith Moore employees, clients and friends collected 450 individually wrapped packages of Model Magic, 366 glue sticks, 350 paint brushes, 135 blank canvases, over 700 markers, and various kits for patients to take home from them after being released from the hospital. Emily Schaeffler, Dipali House, and Joyce Randle delivered the supplies to St. Louis Children’s Hospital. They met the staff of the Art Therapy Program, as well as Child Life Services. They learned about other events and ways that St. Louis Children’s Hospital brings joy to the lives of their patients and their families. Emily, Dipali, and Joyce left wanting to continue this relationship with St. Louis Children’s Hospital!

With the Saint Louis Art Fair in Clayton this upcoming weekend, Smith Moore is excited to announce our fundraiser for St. Louis Children’s Hospital. Smith Moore employees, clients, and partners are supporting the Art Therapy Program at St. Louis Children’s Hospital. We have raised $5,625 and hundreds of art supplies, including model magic clay, glue sticks, paint brushes, markers, canvases, and art kits. All these supplies are needed throughout the year as children use the Art Therapy services at St. Louis Children’s Hospital to aid in their healing process. Check out the Wish List that our team at Smith Moore created for this cause. What child doesn’t love a Mr. Sketch scented marker?! https://lnkd.in/gUXRtSfk

In late June, my oldest daughter, Audrey, and I spent five days close to Jackson, Kentucky. We were part of a group of approximately 50 parent chaperones and high school girls from Cor Jesu Academy that went to serve the local community through the Appalachia Service Project (ASP). The community we served was impacted by devastating floods that hit in the fall of 2022. Water got as high as 60 feet in some parts of the community and homes were washed away. We were there to assist in the multiyear process to rebuild their community. We installed soffit to cover the underpinning on our homeowner’s mobile home. Audrey and I built an access door that the homeowner could use if the pipes burst, and he needed to get under the trailer. We also started building a deck. We dug the post holes and set the posts. Our team learned how to use some building materials and tools for the first time. The girls learned new skills and the importance of working together. We all enjoyed meeting our homeowner and those in the community. Everyone was grateful for all the volunteers that have come there over the past couple of years to help them rebuild. I appreciate working for a leader who values helping others. This was truly an amazing experience. I am blessed to have spent it with my daughter.
