In a diverse market like India, where the traditional “kirana” stores make 98% of store coverage and 85% of the business among them, top 5% (4-5 lakh stores) contribute to 30%+ of business. Jo Dikhta Hai Woh Bikta Hai, isn't new to the consumer and retail business domains, it's even more critical with the advent of modern trade and E-commerce. But that is at best 10% of any company's business. The remaining 90% of traditional trade, even in this environment, has zero or minimal last mile connectivity between brands and consumers and retailers. The shelf life of POS material is quite limited, sometimes just one day. Its effectiveness is even more limited by the quality of seller, merchandiser, and relationship with the store owner. Same can be said about a brand’s engagement directly with the retailer. It's extremely limited and in-effective depending on the quality of seller and frequency of visits made. We at Snapbizz, recognise kirana stores as essential components of our national infrastructure, providing critical services and community support. The kiranas serve about 90% of India’s 1.3 Billion population and have a dynastic and everlasting relationship with the customers, they have also been the original Q -commerce. People subconsciously rely on Kirana stores for their minimum purchases like biscuits, bandages, or a sachet of shampoo. Many have cross-generational and lifelong relationships with consumers. That kind of stickiness is hard to replicate. Financing is a key ingredient in retail, and it is being further strengthened by FinTechs offering embedded finance options to Kirana stores.
