SHPE (Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers) is a nonprofit organization serving and advancing Hispanics in STEM. With more than 13,000 student and professional members, SHPE’s mission is to change lives by empowering the Hispanic community to realize its fullest potential and to impact the world through STEM awareness, access, support, and development. To accomplish this, SHPE provides a variety of programming, services, resources, and events, including hosting the largest Hispanic STEM convention in the nation.

The Women of Color in Engineering Collaborative (WCEC) is seeking dedicated volunteers to serve as reviewers for our 2024 Travel Stipend Program!     In an increasingly hyperconnected world, it is critical that our networks and information systems are not left vulnerable to hackers. In 2021 the United States experienced one of the biggest cybersecurity threats its ever faced with the Colonial Pipeline hack. In order to predict and outsmart hackers, you must become a better one. SHPE's Cybersecurity Challenge focuses on empowering you and other STEM minds throughout the country. The event includes a virtual "capture the flag" challenge competition where you, along with other participants around the country, compete in teams to complete a series of interactive challenges within the shortest amount of time.     SHPE recognizes that community college student needs are unique. Participants in this track are provided with resources specific to community college participants through educational sessions and networking. This year the community college track will focus on how AI has and will continue to be a key component of your engineering journey as you start your education at a community college. Our main and join sessions will help our community college students to be exposed to the new era of AI and how this technology will help them prepare during their engineering journey at a community college all the way to their first employment. Our speaker(s) will cover how they use AI in their field of work, education, mentorship, and how AI can help you prepare for internship and employment interviews.
