Last week, our talented Energy & Sustainability team participated in the Carbon Leadership Forum event, where Matt Mongan, Project Manager at our New York City office, showcased the innovative work we’re leading to reduce embodied carbon in new construction. Matt introduced the SCA Discovery Tool, developed by SOCOTEC’s Energy & Sustainability team for the NYC School Construction Authority (SCA). This tool offers high-level analysis of the embodied carbon impact of new school buildings, helping project teams choose low-carbon materials and assemblies as part of the Green Schools Guide IDP Process. The event also included presentations from architecture firms and manufacturers, all sharing valuable insights on embodied carbon and sustainable building practices. We’re proud of the team’s continued efforts to drive sustainability innovation, share their expertise with the industry, and learn from other leaders at these events. A special thank you and congratulations to Andrew Graceffa, RA, Matt Mongan, Camille Simon, Paggy Zhu, and everyone involved in developing and sharing this impactful tool. Last week, SOCOTEC teams across the U.S. celebrated a major milestone – earning the prestigious Great Place to Work certification back in June. To honor this achievement as part of Great Place To Work US #CertificationNationDay on October 16, we hosted a week of festivities filled with appreciation and celebration. This recognition truly reflects our team's dedication and commitment, and we took the opportunity to express gratitude for the hard work and contributions of every member. Each of our 20+ offices joined in the festivities with decorations, sweet treats, and a highlight of the week—our Town Hall. During the Town Hall, leadership shared results gathered from the Great Place to Work survey and introduced exciting new initiatives aimed at making SOCOTEC an even better place to work. The week concluded with raffling off 50 SOCOTEC-branded hot-ticket items, like The North Face and Yeti, a fun addition to wrap up the celebration. The week provided the perfect opportunity to come together, celebrate what makes SOCOTEC special, and look ahead to an even brighter future. Thanks to the incredible enthusiasm and participation of our teams, our first-ever Great Place to Work Celebration Week was a great success! Together, as ONE SOCOTEC, the possibilities are limitless. A heartfelt thank you to everyone for making it all possible.
