Adaptive athlete Chris Layne will be the featured guest at Solace Pediatric Healthcare | A Care Options for Kids Company's next Family Caregiver Services virtual support group this Friday, July 26 at 11 am. A huge thanks to Brewability & Pizzability in Englewood for sharing their space for the interview! It was during a hike with her son back in 2016 that her life took a drastic turn. Chris fell 80 feet down Clear Creek Canyon, resulting in a T6 fracture and spinal cord injury, paralyzing her from the chest down. Through the efforts of The Lockwood Foundation and its team of volunteers, Chris recently summited Mount Elbert (14,440 ft.), the highest peak in Colorado. Our amazing clinicians hosted a very successful "Summer Fiesta" event for their families this past weekend. A total of 35 families and 100+ people gathered at Robert Clement Park in Littleton, and enjoyed arts and crafts, an obstacle course, face painting, sensory play and gross motor activities. Thank you, Grant, Eleina and Logan for volunteering at “Break Time”, The Resource Exchange’s longest-running respite program, providing respite sessions on scheduled Friday nights and Saturday afternoons. Parents and caregivers can rest assured knowing that their children are under direct supervision of a medical professional, experienced behavior specialist, and other professional staff. Each child receives one-on-one care and attention from dedicated volunteers, most of which are cadets from the United States Air Force Academy, students from area colleges, local law enforcement, and other community helpers.
