When I first started in home insurance, I thought fires and floods were the biggest threats to homes. Turns out, I was way off—wind and hail actually cause 40-50% of all home insurance claims. It’s more frequent and costly than wildfires and hurricanes combined 🤯 . What’s worse, fraudulent claims—like unnecessary roof replacements pushed by contractors and attorneys, are driving premiums higher for everyone. As a result, home insurance rates and deductibles have risen to unprecedented highs. At Sola, we’re building a smarter, more affordable coverage solution with an objective claims process to provide fair, consistent coverage. Stay tuned for more exciting news from Sola. See you all at InsureTech Connect. Big things are coming!

The Future of Insurance! What an amazing title and way to embody what we are building at Sola. We are bringing property insurance policies into the 21st Century, redesigned from the ground up. Check out the this episode to see what is in store for Sola. We are just getting started!

When I signed up to mentor at the GIA, I didn't know what kind of founder I'd work with, what problem they'd be trying to solve, and whether I'd feel the strong need for their idea to succeed because of the way it would genuinely help people and deliver on the promise of the Insurance industry. And then I met Wesley Pergament, and heard about his idea for Sola, and I knew – this idea must get to market, and this is the person to get it there. Fast-forward 3 years, and Sola is in market with a truly new, never-been-done before way to help people, and I'm so excited to get to share this conversation with Wesley about what they've built, and what it can do for people facing loss with difficult financial decisions about how to protect themselves. Sola reposted this
Yesterday morning, Sola paid our first two claims in less than 60 hours after the devastating EF2 tornado in Hendersonville, Tennessee. Bob Davis, his wife, and I are in the photo below. Bob is a veteran who has lived in Hendersonville for 40 years. After the EF2 tornado hit on December 9, 2023, Sola processed data from the National Weather Service and automatically issued payment to Bob along with another policyholder who was affected. The quick payouts kickstarted their recovery processes and eased anxiety around the situation. “You have an amazing product, and I’m very thankful I bought it. This will cover most of my deductible as I repair my roof, siding, and back deck,” said Bob. Traci Layne of the TWL agency in Goodlettsville was the agent who wrote the policies. She is also pictured below with my co-founders, Brayden Drury and Jeffrey Zhou. She said, “I’m glad they listened to me when they bought this product from Sola. Everyone needs to have it. I know a lot of homeowners who didn’t buy it but will definitely be calling me back to get it.” With deductibles becoming so high, Sola was started with the mission to create an entirely new financial insurance product that helps homeowners close the expanding gap that climate disasters have created. We were glad to have played a role in this community's resilience, and we are prepared to have an even larger impact in the future.
