Renewable energy now makes up over 30% of U.S. utility-scale electrical capacity, contributing 25% of generation in early 2024. Solar led new capacity additions for 11 consecutive months and is poised to become the second-largest source of capacity. In the first seven months of 2024, renewables accounted for 90% of new generating capacity, with solar (14,949 MW) and wind (2,270 MW) being key contributors. CS Energy and Luminace have successfully completed two 5-MW landfill community solar projects in Berkeley, New Jersey! 🌞 These innovative projects are among the first to simultaneously close a landfill and install solar systems on top. With these additions, CS Energy has now completed over 230 MW of landfill solar projects across the U.S., providing affordable clean energy to 1,800 homes, over half of which are low-to-moderate income (LMI) households. 🌍💡 Overall, these projects are expected to save participants approximately $6.4 million throughout their lifespan. “We are thrilled to partner with CS Energy and Luminace to close this landfill at no cost to our taxpayers while providing cleaner, more affordable energy to our community,” said New Jersey State Senator Carmen Amato. “Our administration has set strong goals for resiliency and green initiatives, and this project exemplifies our strategic approach to generating revenue on township-owned land. A special thanks to the late Administrator John Camera for his vital role in making this possible.” 🙏 https://lnkd.in/e74H9bg6 #CommunitySolarr #CleanEnergy #Sustainability #LandfillSolar #GreenInitiatives #AffordableEnergy #CSenergy #Luminace

The U.S. DOE's Solar Energy Technologies Office (SETO) has issued a request for information (RFI) to gather insights on the market barriers and technical challenges associated with photovoltaic-thermal (PVT) systems. PVT systems combine PV panels with waste heat recovery, enabling the use of excess heat for applications like domestic hot water and thermal energy storage. SETO is seeking feedback on four key areas: 1. **Business**: Opportunities and limitations in the U.S. market. 2. **Technology**: R&D efforts to enhance performance or reduce costs. 3. **Regulatory**: Siting and permitting requirements for installations. 4. **Consumer**: Interest levels in adopting PVT systems. https://lnkd.in/e8NytNG8 #PVT #SolarEnergy #CleanTech #EnergyInnovation #MarketBarriers #RenewableEnergy #DOE #SETO #Sustainability #HeatRecovery

Why Solar Shade Analysis is so Subjective & How to Fix ItTakeaway: Solar contractors often depend on outdated or incomplete satellite, aerial, or LiDAR imagery for shade analysis, leading to subjective and inaccurate modeling. This can be costly to fix and may cause delays or cancellations in financing for lease agreements. By utilizing drones with mobile apps during the sales process, contractors can eliminate these issues—real-time, on-site data ensures objective and highly accurate layouts and production simulations, streamlining financing agreements. https://lnkd.in/e54ud3rQ #DroneTechnology #AccurateData #SolarFinancing #SalesProcess #RenewableEnergy
