Wrapping up on conversation this month we asked Dalal "What's a key piece of creating understanding of our thoughts/ feelings/ behaviors that you find helpful when working with your specific clients?", her response was so insightful!! "When you become aware of your thoughts and emotions, you can create some "time" or "space" that allows you to decide how you want to behave. This means that you do not have to immediately act after you have had a thought or experience an emotion but that you can take time to think about how you want to act before you do. It shows you are not a "slave" to your emotions!" We think Elizabeth always has such great insight! As we asked her "What's a key piece of creating understanding of our thoughts/ feelings/ behaviors that you find helpful when working with your specific clients?" she shared - "As a neurodivergent therapist, much of my work is focused on helping clients to better understand the unique complexities in how our brains work and to adapt their expectations to honor their lived reality. My goal as a therapist is to guide clients through embracing adaptive core beliefs that improve their overall functioning and to improve their ability to have healthy relationships that are built on trust, connection, and reciprocity." Awesome! We love talking with our therapists around our monthly topics. We asked Jasmine, What's a key piece of creating understanding of our thoughts/ feelings/ behaviors that you find helpful when working with your specific clients? She said "A key piece to creating an understanding around our thoughts, feelings, and behaviors would be to first recognize which of these could be impacting us in a negative and/or positive way. Each of these play a significant role into how we show up daily, so it’s important to identify what and how they impact our day to day lives." We love this approach! If Jasmine feels like a good fit for your therapy journey, you can reach her at jasminehall@solidgroundmadison.com or by phone 256-203-4082 #mentalhealth #solidgroundmadison #realtalk #therapy #feelings #solidgroundcounselingcenter

We wanted to spend the rest of the month highlighting some of our therapists voices around the topic of thoughts/ feelings/ behaviors. We asked "What's a key piece of creating understanding of our thoughts/ feelings/ behaviors that you find helpful when working with your specific clients?" Hannah shared: A key piece of creating understanding with clients surrounding thoughts, feelings and behaviors is developing mindfulness. Mindfulness, simply put, is awareness. If we aren't intentional, it is easy to walk through life unaware of what is internally going on inside of us and why we keep falling into the same patterns. Mindfulness brings the gift of understanding, and once we can name what is going on within us, we can begin to change. We love this answer! When we're thinking about our feelings it can be helpful to have some ways to check in with ourselves about what exactly it is that we're experiencing. These are four questions that can be helpful to ask yourself to better understand your feelings. When we allow ourselves the opportunity to check in we can ground our emotional brain and allow more logic into any given situation. Do you ask yourselves some kind of questions like these? If so, what have your experiences been?? #solidgroundmadison #solidgrouncounselingcenter #therapy #growth #mentalhealth

When we think about things impacting, influencing, and being useful to us, it is helpful to get a working definitions of those items. As we talk about thoughts, feelings, and behaviors this month - here is a breakdown of what the technical definition of each of these things are. We often have personal definitions or expansions surrounding certain words - do you have any personal definitions of these?? #solidgroundmadison #solidgroundcounselingcenter #feelings #thoughts #behaviors #mentalhealth #therapy
