Math fluency is about developing conceptual knowledge and reasoning skills that can be demonstrated through problem-solving. When the emphasis is on the problem-solving itself, negative outcomes (over-reliance on routines, memorization, search for algorithms, etc.) result!

The U.S. Federal Government operates with 15 departments of which ED has the 8th largest budget at $80B. Their #NationalBookMonth post exemplifies three key problems that are ubiquitous across them all. 1️⃣ Incompetence ▪️ as comments to the post point out, the abbreviation for recommendation(s) is rec, not recc. [Everyone makes mistakes like this so this is a tiny error; however, would you go to a dentist who had bad teeth?] 2️⃣ Lack of Critical Thinking ▪️ February has 28/9 days. The last date range should have been 28-31 to match any month with any date range. [This mistake is more significant than #1 because it requires the poster to have reasoning skills; you know, the kind that we expect our schools to instill in each student.] 3️⃣ Ideological Warfare ▪️ the published mission of ED is "to promote student achievement and preparation for global competitiveness by fostering educational excellence and ensuring equal access for students of all ages." How does the content of this post align with ED's mission? In short, it does not. It aligns with a more broad and insidious objective which divides all of us by surface features rather than character and identity rather than merit. #Leadership matters in schools and it matters in government, at all levels!

The 4️⃣ key behaviors profiled in this article are spot-on and #PrincipalExcellence will not be achieved if any of them are lacking or receive insufficient focus from the #SchoolLeadership team of which the principal is responsible. The deeper challenge involves the different skills and competencies that undergird each of these behaviors. Few individuals excel in all of these areas, and that is much less important than the entire leadership team possessing the capacity to operate and lead across all four domains executing distributed leadership of which the principal is ultimately accountable. Aspiring and executive school leaders in search of growth and improvement in these areas are who we strive to serve at Solutions 4 Education, Inc. s4e.pro/

This deep truth about #SchoolLeadership undergirds our entire organization. #PrincipalExcellence is not achieved through serendipity or by academic study alone. The leadership capacity within our public and private schools is present though significantly untapped, and we can partner with individuals ready to grow, develop, and lead. s4e.pro
Educators on track to become principals don’t often get the full gamut of leadership experience before they take up the complex and ever-changing role. Learn how one state is aiming to change that with a principal apprenticeship program. #K12 #Principals
