Thank you to the animation students and faculty from LAUSD, Compton, and Inglewood for visiting us for a day full of creative talks and activities! Our leaders and talented employees led a panel highlighting the short from our LENS program, "The Spider Within: A Spider-Verse Story," and we held workshops focused on storyboarding, editing, and story pitching. We had a blast hosting this event and hope to continue to inspire the next generation of creative artists and leaders in the animation industry!

In recognition of World Mental Health Day, which aims to raise awareness and advocacy for prioritizing mental health and well-being, we’re spotlighting Sony Pictures Animation and Sony Pictures Imageworks’ partnership with the Kevin Love Fund. This nonprofit, founded by five-time All-Star NBA player and mental health advocate Kevin Love, inspires people to live their healthiest lives while providing tools for mental and physical health. Through the partnership, the Kevin Love Fund developed a new mental health-focused lesson plan, “The Hero Within,” inspired by the animated short film, The Spider Within: A Spider-Verse Story. The lesson plan invites students to tell their own stories through the lens of mental health awareness via an interactive curriculum, including a creative storyboard activity.    Watch The Spider Within: A Spider-Verse Story here: https://lnkd.in/gkvMQrKv

Our LatinX/Hispanic Heritage Month Employee Spotlight this week shines brightly on Brandon Madera, who is a feature Production Manager at our studio: "My job’s most fundamental function is to ensure all our departments are performing efficiently and working together. Truthfully, this heritage month did not take as much significance for me in the past, but as I grow older and continue in this field, I recognize more and more that there’s comparatively not many people in this industry who have a similar ethnic background as me. One of the many ways to change that is to highlight those who do so that there's a chance to inspire and create access for others. Getting to answer these questions for LatinX/Hispanic Heritage Month has forced me to celebrate myself which in turn allows me to celebrate my culture and community, and that is very important."
