This led me to question the effectiveness of traditional aid models and search for a better approach. The World Bank estimates it can cost up to $20,000 to create a single job through international development programs. While this may still be a better investment than some tech companies, it represents a significant waste of resources. However, there's hope on the horizon. Nearly half of the people in the Middle East express interest in starting a business within the next five years. This represents millions of potential innovators, entrepreneurs, and creatives whose skills could be harnessed for positive change. I propose redefining the model and purpose of aid.
