Company Values. They seem to be in the air these days. In my conversations with founders, I've seen how thinking more widely about types of values can be helpful for expanding the conversation. This framework of Core Values, but also Aspirational, Table Stakes and Counter Values is based on work by Patrick Lencioni, at it's a timeless approach to exploring company values, including how they change over time. I hope you find the template and the prompts helpful! #CompanyValues #ConsciousLeadership

Building Great Companies From the Inside Out.
About us
The Soul of Startups is a totally different way to do business, one where the science of growing a business meets the consciousness of building it with people in mind first. It doesn't matter what you're building or what customer you are serving, building a company that is a container for people to achieve their full human capacity; to be able to continue to learn and grow and develop as a professional and as a person, to be the place where they can be the fullest, more authentic, and therefore best versions of themselves. When your company is that place, that mechanism for people, it is worthy work.

Startup Heuristics Part 2 - Prioritization Priorities align people around what work is most important to accomplish with limited resources. There is always more work to do than can get done. Priorities communicate which work to get complete first so that the company makes progress instead of staying busy but going nowhere. Here are some prompts for founders to think through and talk about their priorities more explicitly: How do you set priorities? How do people know what is most important? How do you create focus around the work that is most important? What is the goal? What do you say “No” to? What's your processing to stop working on something? What questions does your team ask to get clear on the top priorities? #explicitoverimplicit #startstopcontinue #consciousleadership #whatisnumberone

Let's talk about HEURISTICS, or rules of thumb for your business. Making HOW you do what you do EXPLICIT is helpful for everyone involved. Here's the first one: Decision Making. Decision-making is the process of alignment around how to move forward. It can be on a spectrum from command-and-control to consensus, and it could depend on the type of decision and/or the circumstance (i.e. is there urgency or can we take our time.) Founders, here are some prompts to think about: How do you make decisions? What special situations warrant a different kind of decision-making process? Who gets to be in the room when the decision is made? How much input do people have? Are quieter voices heard equally to louder voices? Does anyone have a veto? How do you break impasse or deal with conflict if there is not agreement? What other decision making agreements do you have in your company? #explicitoverimplicit #decisionmaking #consciousleadership
