Meet Ashley Aquino… My role: As a Risk/BSA Analyst 2, I identify, investigate, and prevent fraud and other illicit financial activities. My background: My mom was born in Cali, Colombia, and moved to the United States when she was eight years old. She was the first in her family to go to college and landed her first job in the NYC financial district in the 80s, where she met my dad. My favorite thing about my Hispanic heritage: The strong sense of community and the music! My mom is the reason for my love for Carlos Vives. How my Hispanic heritage impacts my work: My Colombian heritage has greatly influenced my perspective on the value of hard work and resilience. She supports the organization's mission, treats others fairly and ethically, and promotes positive collaboration with her teammates and those in other departments. Financial Center Manager Mike Adams says that Nicole "developed quite the following of members at the James Island location and consistently looks for win-win solutions for our members." To prepare for this opportunity, Nicole completed the first year of her HPE curriculum, took advantage of our in-house career coaching services, and was proactive in developing herself by diving into multiple leadership books. My team and I provide convenient financial services to our membership while striving to maintain the highest levels of member service in our industry.   My background: My mother is Cuban. I try to visit Miami, Florida, once a year to experience Cuban culture and to connect with family and friends. My favorite thing about my Hispanic heritage: It is a common bond that helps me make a warm connection with people from diverse backgrounds. Some ways I honor my culture daily: I honor my culture by continuing to learn. In addition to the customs, I love learning about the history, geography, and language. I also like to share amazing things with others, such as Cuban music and food.
