The Center marks a transformative moment in the mission to advance student achievement through outcomes based contracting. Evolving from a strategic initiative to the leading authority in the successful implementation of the OBC model, the Center will set industry standards, provide comprehensive resources, and drive systemic change in education. For the second time, Accelerate is opening a competitive grant for state education agencies (SEA), governor's offices and nonprofits working with SEA's in support of high-dosage tutoring. Applications for Accelerate's States Leading Recovery program are available at https://lnkd.in/eK5_rdqK. The application deadline is November 1.

Yesterday SEF, in partnership with the Schools, Health, and Libraries Broadband Coalition, InnovateEDU, Digital Promise, and TNTP, Inc. filed an amicus brief in support of the respondent in Wisconsin Bell, Inc. v. United States of America, which is to be heard before the U.S. Supreme Court in November. The case relates to the E-Rate program, a federal subsidy that has allowed virtually all public schools and libraries in the country to afford the internet connectivity needed in today’s learning environment, and involves an action brought against Wisconsin Bell alleging the telecommunications company grossly overcharged schools and libraries for broadband services. A high-quality education should not be limited to communities of means but shared by all of America’s students. Learn more at southerneducation.org.

SEF staff members enjoyed another volunteer day at Atlanta Children's Day Shelter (ACDS) on September 24th! ACDS is dedicated to supporting families facing homelessness and has served over 5,000 families, caring for nearly 8,000 children. During Allison Boyle, MPA, Tabitha Reynolds Hoang, PhD and Danielle Smith’s volunteer visit ACDS staff members shared some of their most critical needs, including gently used children’s books, children’s clothing items (new), feminine hygiene products and monetary donations.
