In honor of World Water Day! Flashback Friday: Completed in 2011 by our Mole Constructors team, the Riverbank Filtration Tunnel and Pump Station project features a 7,763-ft tunnel (12-ft diameter) for water conveyance, four collector wells, and a 65 MGD pump station along the Ohio River. Excavation involved a TBM through limestone & shale, rock dowels for support, and a 10-ft cast-in-place concrete lining. A massive 41-ft slurry wall and blasting methods ensured deep excavation stability. #BuildingGreatThings #WorldWaterDay

Flashback Friday: Completed in 2015 by our Southland Contracting team, the Gateway Stormwater Ponds Tunnel Project included the construction of 580 linear feet of 96-inch liner plate tunnel and 592 linear feet of 72-inch reinforced concrete pipe beneath IH-10 in El Paso, TX. This critical infrastructure connects two stormwater ponds with extensive grouting to ensure structural integrity. #BuildingGreatThings - #tunneling #stormwater #stormwaterrelief #construction #constructionupdates

From the AB archives: 88 years ago, American Bridge completed construction of the Henry Hudson Bridge. The steel deck arch bridge spans the Spuyten Duyvil Creek between the Bronx and Manhattan in New York. The bridge consists of an 800’ arch span, two 45’ tower spans, and ten 60’ plate girder spans. When it opened, it was the longest plate girder arch and fixed arch bridge in the world. AB also added the second level deck in 1938. #BuildingGreatThings Southland Holdings

Once complete, the new bridge will connect the heavily traveled Nelson Road to West Sallier Street. #BuildingGreatThings
