About us
It is our mission to champion equal justice for low-income Virginians and to work to remedy the conditions that burden the low-income community. To these ends, we strive: -to provide high quality, courteous and effective legal services to low-income families and individuals facing serious threats to their personal, economic or family stability; and -to work with others to identify and respond to problems faced by those in the low-income community within our region.

Southwest Virginia Legal Aid Society is excited to share that we are a 2024 Virginia Law Foundation grant recipient! This grant supports the development of two one-day conferences: one to serve professionals who work with victims of domestic violence and the other to enhance awareness and knowledge of attorneys concerning elder abuse. Additionally, SVLAS will revitalize the Silence Isn’t Golden (SIG) Campaign by updating materials that will be distributed to seniors and agencies that assist seniors.
