As a business owner, the future of your company is just as important as its present success. Are you preparing to pass the torch or looking for the right exit? Succession planning and exit planning have distinct goals but both require careful strategy. Take the time to understand the difference and help you prepare for whatever comes next.

In behavioral finance, there’s something called "herd mentality" – it's when we follow the crowd and mirror what others are doing. It's hard to avoid because it's an innate human tendency rooted in our desire for social acceptance and fear of missing out. But the herd mentality can lead to costly missteps. Here’s why: You might end up buying high and selling low. You might become more conservative or more aggressive than needed. You might make hasty decisions that detract from your from your long-term goals. None of these are positive. When it comes to your investments, take a step back. Remain focused on your personal goals, not just what the crowd is doing.

If you’re a #financialadvisor exploring #PrivateEquity… you’ll want to be sure to add “secondaries” to your short list of options to explore. 👉 Below is a preview of the interview I just wrapped up at The CAIS Summit with Franklin Templeton's Dave Donahoo, CFA. This is interesting! I have only recently come to know that Charles Schwab has a "franchise model". 👉 This looks like a very unique way to "go independent" If you're a #financialadvisor exploring independence... you can learn more about this live during next week's InvestmentNews webinar: 🔹 Thursday, November 7th 🔹 4PM EST 🔹 See the full agenda and register for free at: https://lnkd.in/erxSk-4j You'll hear from and be able to directly engage with: Gage Gilham (Director + Independent Branch Market Leader, Charles Schwab) You will also be able to ask questions directly to 2 other advisors that have opened their own independent Schwab branch: 🔹 Greg Grooms 🔹 Scott H. Another great piece by InvestmentNews' Josh Welsh covering an important (and clearly very popular) topic: 🌟 #FiduciaryCare 🌟 I was happy to add my $0.02 to the discussion along with Amanda Muse, CFP® & Charles Rowlan, CFP®, CIMA®. 👉 Here’s my take on why some advisors still use the #commision model: 1. It's sometimes easier just to drop a ticket that has a commission. 2. There could be a lack of a good commission-free alternative. While this is becoming less of an issue, there are still some financial products that don't have viable commission-free options. 3. The “advisors” are really just salespeople looking to maximize their commissions and keep their compensation opaque. In other words… they are PINOs (Planners In Name Only). 🔹Are any of these reasons invalid? 🔹Did I miss any reasons? And... for the record... I am a fee only advisor (no 7, no insurance license), but, I do believe: 1. You CAN be a fiduciary and use commissions (I think it's tricky, but, doable) 2. Not ALL commission based advisors are PINOs. In fact... I suspect that PINOs are the minority... but... still around for sure... I’d love to hear from: Knut A Rostad, MBA, George D. Kinder, David H. Kinder, RFC®, ChFC®, CLU®, Barclay Sisk, Andy Panko, CFP®, RICP®, EA, Dr. Preston D. Cherry, AFC®, CFT™, CFP®, Scott MacKillop #Fiduciary #RIA #Wealthmagement #FinancialAdvisors
Josh Welsh dives into the results of an InvestmentNews survey and focuses on a perennial issue for #advisors - fees! Amanda Muse, CFP®Charles Rowlan, CFP®, CIMA®and Charles "Chuck" Failla, CFP®share their views.
