Last week, U.S. Space Forces – Space hosted its first Change of Responsibility ceremony as it bid farewell to S4S’s inaugural Senior Enlisted Leader, Chief Master Sgt. Grange Coffin, and welcomed S4S incoming SEL, Chief Master Sgt. Tina Timmerman. Chief Timmerman brings with her a wealth of experience from her many previous strategic leadership roles, including the Pentagon and National Reconnaissance Office. Beyond her experiences, she has an infectious positive attitude and passion for mentorship, something all S4S will benefit from. Chief Coffin has served with S4S since February 2021, helping to navigate through the deactivation of the Combined Force Space Component Command to the standup of the current S4S command. His steady leadership was instrumental in building the culture of S4S and shaping its effectiveness in the space domain. The SEL serves as the senior enlisted leader to S4S, supporting and ensuring the health, welfare, and morale of the enlisted force. Change of responsibility ceremonies reinforce the noncommissioned officer’s authority and highlight their support to the chain of command. Yet, above all, this ceremony signifies continuity of leadership through transition, ensuring unwavering leadership to the S4S mission and the joint and combined forces that achieve it.

Earlier today, I had the opportunity to preside over the first S4S Change of Responsibility for our Command Senior Enlisted Leader. During the ceremony, CMSgt Grange Coffin passed the guardianship of the command's colors to our inbound CSEL, CMSgt Tina Timmerman. This exchange represented the passing of the incredible duty the CSEL has to advise the commander on all matters involving the mission and personnel of the command. It's been an honor serving with you, Grange and Alison. And we welcome Tina and Deron into the S4S family! - Lt Gen Doug Schiess #ProtectDefendDeliverConnect #SemperSupra
