This is a very special year for Spanish Springs Construction because it is our 20th year in business! It’s not that easy to survive in the contracting business because of the stiff competition, but SSC has done it and that is because of our wonderful employees. In my opinion, the reason a construction company or any other company succeeds is because of the people. We all have a choice of where we work and it’s a very important decision because we spend so much time with our coworkers. Our coworkers essentially become part of our extended family. One key way to help with long term employment is to make sure you and your fellow employees are safe. We work in a dangerous business and need to trust that our coworkers have our back so everyone can go home safely every day. If you see something unsafe then say something. We need everyone’s help to send people home to their families. I am looking forward to getting this construction season kicked off. SSC's office staff toured the facilities of its sister companies, American Ready-Mix and Western Nevada Materials on Tuesday, February 27th. It was a great opportunity to learn more about the aggregate, ready-mix, and hot mix asphalt plant operations and meet other members of the Teichert Family of Companies!

Our local project team participated in the ribbon cutting ceremony this week to celebrate the completion of the Regional Transportation Commission's (RTC) Sky Vista Parkway Rehabilitation and Widening Project! This project involved widening 1.25 miles of existing two lane roadway to a 4-lane roadway with center median, including a new roundabout at Sky Vista Parkway and Silver Lake Road. It also included removal of existing roadway, earthwork, rip/rap slope stabilization, new storm drain pipe, headwalls, manholes and catch basins, existing domestic water & reclaim water relocations, electrical upgrades, relocation of phone fiber optic, new traffic signal and 83 new street lights. The new roadway now has lime & cement treated subgrade, concrete curbs, 8' wide sidewalks on both sides, new aggregate base rock & asphalt paving, signage & striping, bus stops and landscaping. The project needed to be shut down for about 4 months because of snow, but the team was still able to complete the project on-time. We also want to thank our partners at Western Nevada Materials (WNM) and American Ready-Mix for providing most of the aggregate for this project. We were able to recycle all of the existing asphalt and concrete through WNM. Well done, team!

Happy Thanksgiving! 🦃 From spending time with family and friends, to all of the delicious food and drinks, it’s definitely time to give thanks for all of the amazing blessings in our lives. We were thrilled to host our first annual Thanksgiving Turkey Day in appreciation of our hardworking crews. Extra turkeys were donated to a student-run food pantry at Reed High School in Sparks, NV. #SpanishSpringsConstruction

Thank you to everyone who had a hand in making the 2023 Dozers & Dirt a huge success! We blew it out of the water this year with attendance exceeding our expectations (yet again) and by raising at least $370,000 for the Northern Nevada Children's Cancer Foundation (NNCCF)! It was a perfect day. Thanks again for your support!
