Something that always grounds us as a company is the fact that this all started with the simple but very personal goal of helping my mother. As the story goes, my mother couldn’t text and found herself suddenly out of the loop. The idea that Alexa could change this unexpectedly grew from a pretty small idea to a very large one especially since Alexa provides a user interface my mother and similar people like her can actually use. Eventually, after a few false starts with some partners, we decided to go ahead and build something ourselves. It wasn’t intended to be a company or grow to being used by 5000+ people across the country (and growing). Anyway, one Mother’s Day we put out a video that tried to tell the story of all the things my mother did for me, and how Speak2 was built for her. Amazon saw that video and asked us to do an “Alexa Story” video with them, which of course we did. On this Mother’s Day, 2024, we wanted to reshare this story, the initial video, and the video that Amazon did for Alexa Stories.
