This week Special Olympics Michigan athletes joined the Detroit Red Wings in Traverse City for training camp! SOMI athletes watched the Red Wings practice before we hit the pavement for a Poly-Hockey celebration. Red Wings stars joined the fun, leading our athletes through drills. A day full of our favorite things: hockey, Little Caesars Pizza, fun and high fives! I can't thank Merideth Gokey, Kylie Anderson, CNP and the Red Wings players and staff enough, alongside our friends at Gallagher for creating this experience for our athletes!

What a DAY yesterday - five years in the making! We had an amazing time celebrating the ribbon cutting of the Unified Sports & Inclusion Center Outdoor Sports Complex! This event marks a monumental step toward creating a more inclusive future for athletes of all abilities across the state of Michigan. Thank you to all the athletes, Unified partners, supporters, and volunteers who came out to celebrate with us on this important milestone! A special thank you to all the incredible partners and donors, including @MindSpring for contributing extended reality (XR) and special audio capabilities that are helping to make this space even more accessible for everyone. We’re excited to see the impact this center will have on the community and the lives of countless athletes across Michigan! More pictures and videos to come.
